I registered a couple of weeks ago but for the life of me can't find the entry list for ladies so that I can double check that the registration went through. Does anyone know where such a list can be found? Maybe I'm being a half wit but I don't see anything on the official website....
Really looking forward to it!

I'd just be happy getting under 14 hours this time!
I think it's do-able........less wine though, and I'm not sure I want to do that! -

I can't help with that, I'm useless too........Peter v will be along shortly...he is brilliant at deciphering italian gibberish!

Stedlocks I'm glad it's not just me! Fingers crossed Peter v (or someone) can shed some light on the matter. Failing that I will just have to try emailing them! :)

^ if you haven't registered before March 3rd, either sending them an e-mail or posting a message in the Eroica facebook group might be your best shot...

Maybe a bit premature, but was riding my Olmo (that will most probably join me in Tuscany) earlier and got to thinking that I'd do well to change the gearing. It's 13-18 (6sp) on the back and the small ring is 42T. Ouch. The gruppo is all Nuovo Record.
Couple of questions:
(To those that have ridden the route before) - what kid of gearing were you on, and how much of a *spaccagamba** did it turn out to be?
Anyone know how big a cog I can get away with on a NR rear derailleur?
**Something wot makes your legs hurt a lot *
-
• #196
NR takes 28 max. If you stick to a period correct Campagnolo chainset, 42x28 is your 'lightest'.
I don't know how well trained you are, but you'll encounter hills up to 18% on which I found it plenty spaccagamba on 39x28 ;-)
-
• #197
I've got 42x28 on super record first gen, virtually the same as your mech.... Plenty spaccafuckinggamba, and no mistake!
Sections of 3 strada bianchi beat me, mostly to do with traction, one bit was to do with lungs/talent though....! -
• #198
Cheers chaps. Hmm, well I do have a Huret Duopar touring mech (that can take up to about a 38 cog!) knocking about... But it just wouldn't be right. Perhaps it's worth the pain to stay classy.
Think it'll remain an emergency option until I sort myself for this going-up-hills lark. I figured it would be lack of traction, as you say, stedlocks, that would be the killer.
For my own part, I think there's going to be quite a few uphill miles needed before October.
While we're on the subject of gear-related geekery, any suggestions for tyres?
Would like something that looks the part, but that'll actually keep me off of the deck, and not fixing punctures to boot.
Was thinking these looked good:
Though that may be the gumwall speaking.
-
• #199
Those tires look great in real life. I did it on some fancy 21mm gumwall clinchers and found it fine although most opted for 23's or 25's.
In terms of training you really need to work on staying in the saddle while climbing. Once you stand up it's 'very' tricky to maintain traction. But to be fair, walking your bike up steep hills is a very important part of cycling tradition too. :)

I used panaracer pasela with dr sludge tubes....25's I think? They were pretty much spot on for 99% of it..... Don't underestimate the 'hills'!
I thought I had trained pretty well, dropping over 2 stone and using high beech for my hill work, but nothing compared ..... Really!
Just walk if you have to..... But not on the 'smooth' line up! :0)
another fine piece of communication from the L'Eroica organisation, on facebook just now:
"Today will be sent to the last block of the e.mail to excluded from the draw. Check your mail box! You have only one week make registration!"
