• ooops sorry this isn't the football thread is it ?

  • You now realise that you're gonna look mighty foolish if you don't win every single event at the next track day?

Well I won't cause any crashes.

  • The coaches don't know that and neither do any of us.

  • In terms of 'lack of promotion', I don't know what else to do

shout if you need help bro #designers4lyf

  • As far as I know, you're just a hipster who decided to use his tarck bike for the purpose it was designed in tribute to.

    I have a track record.

    A dum tish.

  • As far as I know, you're just a hipster who decided to use his tarck bike for the purpose it was designed in tribute to.

    I have a track record.

    A dum tish.

..But you know he's done an induction.

    For all I know you're a cunt.

  • He won't show up anyway... Just another Welsh keyboard warrior...

    Please don't feed the troll...

  • ..But you know he's done an induction.

So he can be safe in an artificially tame environment but there's no guarantee he won't turn right when someone's about to overtake him at speed.

  • He won't show up anyway...

Let me race without an induction and make it not clash with Polo and I'll turn up.

  • If you race without and induction I'm out, in fact if you race at all I'm probably out because I don't enjoy hanging around with people who just choose to be assholes about such trivial things as inductions.

You decided to throw your toys out of the pram because someone asks you to take 20 mins to prove that you can ride safely on the track before racing people.

  • So he can be safe in an artificially tame environment but there's no guarantee he won't turn right when someone's about to overtake him at speed.

This is life, there are no guarantees.

  • ^^^ So that's a no then.

  • Laughs a minute !

Track day was absolutely clarse, fuck the haterz!

Looking forward to the next one, maybe we can have a lil UFC cage in the mixed use area in the middle for the tough guys to duke it out?

  • I'm gonna do 3 inductions

  • maybe we can have a lil UFC cage in the mixed use area in the middle for the tough guys to duke it out?

    Will that require an induction?

  • You decided to throw your toys out of the pram because someone asks you to take 20 mins to prove that you can ride safely on the track before racing people.

No, the suggestion was that I needed to come down to London on a different day to prove that I was safe on an outdoor non-wood track which is just like all the other outdoor non-wood tracks outside of London.

It's a stupid bit of ass-covering which is an obstruction to open participation.

  • If you've got a problem then don't race and don't complain.

  • If you don't like the current government, don't vote and don't complain.

If noone ever complained nothing would ever change.

  • If there's any of this squabbling at the next track day you'll all end up on the naughty step and there'll be no racing for anyone. Is that what you want to happen? No? Well, play nicely then!

  • If noone ever complained nothing would ever change.

For that to work, other people need to agree with you.

  • For that to work, other people need to agree with you.

    Hear hear.

  • Just do the induction on the day jeez, and by induction I mean the stinky bibs induction

  • To be fair to Emyr I think with his experience he could get away with it, there is some discretion involved at HH as far as I'm aware. I came back two years ago after 15 years off the track and was told I could just get up and race. So I did.

Absolutely. There's not much point in a blindly rigorous enforcement, although those with experience would ideally need to prove it.

My take on racing for those without ANY prior track experience (induction or otherwise) is that it's too dangerous. The crashfest that is the Dulwich inter schools comp is testament to that. It wouldn't bother me so much but when people are writing off our hire bikes it has an effect on the day-to-day running of the velodrome. Not to mention the nasty injuries.

If someone wants to promote and run a race event, they can choose to admit whoever they choose. However, if the event is run and/or overseen by HHV staff and includes bike hire, then there will be some requirement for rider experience.

  • Cool, so it's decided then. Emyr and any other radical semi-pro riders can just bring their skinsuits with their cycling proficiency badges sewn onto them. Please stitch onto the arse area so we have a good view as you blow away the local competition ;).
