Some 5000-10.000km later as a working horse from a bike messenger in Copenhagen, still going strong.

How are people finding their Mielec's after riding them for a while? I got a quote back to repair my damage Ryctarski and it's rapidly looking not viable to have it repaired, was thinking of buying another polish frame to replace it. How much do they roughly cost and has Mielec become easier to deal with as I know early on some people has difficulties?

What's damaged on the Ryctarski?

What's damaged on the Ryctarski?
Was t-boned by a van jumping a red light, fork is wrecked and the rear triangle is bent to the point the crank arm hits the chain stay.

I like my mielec pretty much. Got the cheapest mash copy. I use it for daily commuting and touring, no problems. Got everything the way I ordered it. (except for the green colour I wanted).
It a little bit heavy but the weldings are nice and it's strong.
Would recommend if you are looking for something cheap. -

Thats nice, is the front braking surface anodized black?
Yes, it wears off quite quickly in the wet. See Rogan's Talbot thread for an example.

So is there no way to have a permanent black braking surface?
Other than going crabon I guess?

disc brakes
or brakeless
or keep colouring it in

Coaster or drum brakes too

ceramic rims!

^ not true I'm afraid

sure!

Ceramic rims won't stay black, a friend has black ceramic rims and the brake does wear it down.

Does anyone even make ceramic rims anymore? Open pro CDs aren't proper ceramic rims
-
• #4444
these are the best rims i've seen to cope with braking

That because the CD wasn't ceramic to begin with, Mavic discontinued it, the ceramic is a black rims with a matt grey braking surface.
miro's right, the Grizzy is your best bet.

Would love to know how the ordering works - is it as simple as literally emailing asking Robert to do e.g. 'Mash copy', or do you need to send a bikeCAD schematic diagram or similar?

the table for the mash copies on their site. just reference that.
choose options, size, tubing profile, headset type, dropouts, smooth welds, paint. -

Hello, I've been following this thread for a while and have finally made the decision to go through with the purchase of a mielec, but I have a slight problem- I really dislike the mash style down tube (it seems to be just to fat) .Thus, I turn to you , all knowing LFGS community. Please suggest some geometry that would solve my conundrum (the fact that I know nothing about bike geometries does not help)!
Thanks mates!
