  • They're not usually difficult to put in, clamping it all down should get rid of any play, unless it's rattling around you should be fine.

  • I'm sure the dents will Keep mine solid.

Denting it is an option, that'll keep the bearings in place.

  • The angles seat them. What's the point of having angles if they don't do anything?

  • The angles seat them. What's the point of having angles if they don't do anything?

This actually makes sense. Once it is all tight it should be ok.

  • Yeah just to reiterate the point all the frames i've had with interagteds have just been press fit in. Once you tighten down the top race/wedge it should all become tight and snug.

  • press fit =/= drop it in

  • What is the reason for the dropouts on these bikes being unmittigated shit heaps?

I was tempted by a GT cx vibe from the outset but they are just so ugly that I couldn't bare it. What gives?

  • press fit =/= drop it in

they shouldn't be so loose you can just drop them in and out. the bottom one at least should stay in when you take the forks out.

  • The headsets on my Giant frames only stay in when I pop the fork out due to the grease sticking them there. They're not meant to be a tight fit.

  • Yeah, they're not press fit like a mid BB or or whatever, they go in and out with minimal effort from a finger.

  • Any suggestions for decent BBs? Not too pricey ideally.

  • Which crank format?

  • Chris King, so can be self serviced saving money in the long run.

  • ^^ a valid question...

  • Shimano BBs are good value for money.

  • ^^^ and a good idea but way way way out of my price range, it'll have to be a "buy cheap, but twice" type deal for the time being I think. Having said that, I'm losing hope of getting the frame for these components to go on anyway.

  • Shimano BBs are good value for money.

    Holy shit! £2.50 bb!

  • Not that shimano BB.

Get On-One's OmNoms and replace the supplied external BB with a Shimano u it as soon as it wears out.

  • For square taper the UN-54 is quite cheap but still good.

  • ^^ yeah I'd probably go higher than £2.50 but lower than £100. Do you have a link emyr?

    £30 for DA!

    £20 for Ultegra, £15 for 105

  • xtr bb's last longer

  • My frame arrived! 2 minutes before I need to leave for work so I haven't got time to open it.

  • Oh fuck it, it's worth the bollocking.

  • All looks good so far, no damage or anything. The paint's a lot darker than I was expecting. I was after a very dark blue but this thing is definitely black, looks cool though, I'll just have to stealth it up I guess!
