Quick question, I'm not particularly clued up on external bottom brackets or omniums, but is there any reason that omniums wouldn't work with my mielec frame?
no

yes

like if you install the driveside crank in the seattube and just leave the non driveside arm in the bottom bracket shell.

^ they can be drilled
I'm a bit nervous about drilling them and seeing as I don't have the alpinas anyway I thought I'd see if there was anything available that'd save me the hassle etc

I just picked up some none fake 3t funda forks off ebay for £60.00 posted they're straight and drilled. if you keep an eye you can get some for pretty good prices, I think I even saw some go for £35.00 the other week!
I got real 3T ones on eBay for £35 + £12 postage.
Here they are... (more pics when I build the bike this week)

How far off are the rest of the measurements?
-

whoever built it either chose to ignore the geo design or didnt look at it at all.
its slightly longer than the design, but seat tube is huaageee! mabye its to accommedate the bend and still have pleanty of space for a seat post, still should have said before they make the frame so big though!
even the BB is almost an inch too high.

Has anyone fitted an integrated headset on their Mielec yet?
I have popped my 45x45 1 1/8 bearing in the frame this morning and it just went straight in far too easily, which means that there could be play once everything is in place.
Can of coke shim? Any other ideas?

it should go in easily though. if you have a star nut in the fork, just test the compression....
