  • How are you going to stop bike thieves borrowing the grinder?

Also you might want to edit that post to remove a mention of something which should not be mentioned.

    Looks like its been done.

I think we'd have to be convinced as a group an d if we weren't then we don't help? We all have pics of or can prove a bike is ours right?

The latter is the only way to ensure thieves do not borrow such tolls, which is why the trailer in the same place, not that a thieves have much used for a trailer that is.

  • Anyone got any suggestions? I left my bike locked up outside work, now I see someone locked their bike and mine with a chain and padlock. It sounds like they're trying to get to me to leave my bike there. What can I do to liberate my lovely bike? :(

  • Be careful though, thieves have been known to lock a bike to another, wait for a time when it's quiet then unlock their bike and cut your lock

  • Buy a hacksaw, and cut the other bike off yours. Ride your bike home, and remove the lock at your leisure.

  • ^^ That

  • Alternative, buy a hacksaw, lie in wait for the erstwhile thief, hacksaw their legs off. Walk home sans bike but with very smug expression.

  • Unlock your bike and put both in a taxi and take them home.

Assuming the other bike is just locked to yours, and nothing else.

  • Buy some petrol, say your goodbyes and torch both bikes.

  • Unlock your bike and put both in a taxi and take them home.

Assuming the other bike is just locked to yours, and nothing else.

    THIS TEN MILLION TIMES.

Who does that? Not a proper cyclist, so no need to feel guilty.

    Any updates?

  • I've had this twice recently. Really farking annoying...

SOHO, shit rattle canned baby blue fixie gets locked to mine with a cable. After asking around and waiting for 30 mins I started picking/sawing through the lock until the owner turns up. After explaining to her what I was doing and why she still couldn't care less nor understand what the problem was. Some people are just dopey.

Then a week later at a pub, another bike, this time d-locked to mine... OK so at the pub, likely it's someone inside. Go inside find the person, again, couldn't understand the fuss "oh, I just couldn't reach the post so I just locked it to the nearest bike" I just scowled and said unlock yours as I'd like to go and it is a massive problem to do this...

  • "oh, I just couldn't reach the post so I just locked it to the nearest bike"

    Kill them with fire.

  • What really annoyed me was that she started by batting her pretty eyes and thought I'd be all chummy... fark that. Your are an annoying, inconsiderate person - pretty or not.

  • There might be some way she could make it up to you, though.

  • and here I was imagining dungeon scenes...
Ironing is much more useful (if I owned anything that needed ironing...)

  • you should iron your sheets. it's changed my life

(Clarification: me ironing my sheets has changed my life - you ironing yours will probably have minimal impact on my life)

Dont be so defeatist! Him ironing his sheet may have a wonderful impact on your life!!

  • Do you make the bed before the ironing?

  • Call the police again and ask to be in touch with the cycle task force?

surely this whole thread is within the remit of the Cycle Task Force?!

A new, 30-strong Police Cycle Task Force hit the streets of London today, as London's police forces, the Mayor and Transport for London (TfL) published a draft plan for tackling cycle theft and vandalism in the Capital.

enquiry sent about this very scenario (!)..

.. keenly awaiting delivery of the Cycle Task Force Locks-in-a-twist hotline, :-)

  • stop rerailing!

  • stop rerailing!

sorry - was late visiting the thread (!) - ChainBreaker Task Force?!
