A bit harsh, calling someone an idiot.
Someone you have never met. -

Who painted it?

Mario... He made a nice job of it.
Had to have the mockba 80 decal made up by a forum member, he did a nice job too.
After all that and having been riding a 59 cm all spring I've decided it's too big for me. -

Only because I'm the original owner will I say this.
Wish Mario stayed true to the original decal placement and paint masking.
Great refurbs should have everyone asking whether the bike is NOS.

There wasn't an option of the original decals that i could find anywhere.
As it was I had to have one made up .
Agreed about the masking , still looks fab though. -

I think it looked awesome as it was...

Are you, perhaps, tempted to sell?

sighs deeply rolls eyes... -

Hey, give a man a break.
I didn't see anybody rushing to buy this in it's original colour.Sure it looked OK but i didn't like it.
Size I admit was a mistake , but i wanted to give it a try, thought it would look reasonable but too little seatpost for my eyes.
My frame, my money, my colour choice surely. -
• #64
i hope you didn't post the new picture expecting compliments...
i agree with the others that it was a lot better before but it's your bike, shame that after all it's not your size. -
• #65
My frame, my money, my colour choice surely.
Exactly no....
You look after them until the next person owns it...if the paint is fine...unless its a beater or utterly shagged out...or you can do the thing exactly how it was done...you leave it...! -
• #66
I was expecting a bit of a flaming but hey ,don't get me wrong i could ride it, it would look Ok but I've got too many bikes, which a lot of people on here suffer with a similar problem.i need to thin some out.
I have ciocc that fits me better, so I decided not to build it up.
Unlikely i'll grow much now though.
Wasn't looking to defend the paint either, I know some dont like non original paint and love a bit of patin,a some like shiny...I like both. -

Oh please, you sound like a teenager....There isn't a bicycle paint police, tho because of 'idiots' like you sometimes there should be...Especially when people seem to think they have the right to defend themselves when clearly they have fucked up. You didn't repaint a dawes galaxy...you didn't paint a mid range raleigh, you bought a rare frame that was made by a pretty legendary builder...not knowing what size you needed...then later, after deciding it was the wrong colour...you painted it...
Where in that paragraph do you see any need for clemency? Old poker face would be rolling in his grave...So...You get your hands on an early celeste green bianchi...early 50's, it's a small frame...the paint is reasonable (considering its nearly 60 years old) the chrome is pitted...and you have no idea of the provenance...Do you paint it?

Legendary frame builder indeed, i have another 2 bikes built by him,he and his son were at the l'eroica a couple of years ago...and I almost sent it back to him for a repaint.I couldn't justify the cost(although reasonable)when you added in shipping on a £210 frame.
What would you say about that ?... do you think Mr Pelizzoli would have sent it back, telling me not to be so silly?
I doubt it
He's a legendary frame builder, not a legendary painter, and the frame is still there,i doubt he painted it in the first place.
Would it have been a worse crime in your eyes to use it as a pub beater , let it rust chained up outside railway stations.Even building it up as a garage queen and never riding it.Each to their own, we'll agree to disagree.
But what we both should be celebrating is the fact that one can buy a fantastic classic Italian frame for just over £200... (and if you want paint it any colour you fancy)Teenager I wish...wrong side of 50 i'm afraid
Idiot ?..... harsh words i think -

I usually try to keep out of the bickering but I'm too tempted to wade in on this. I have bikes that have been restored and some I left in original paint. It's often a difficult decision - but generally unless it's so far gone you worry it'll rot away, why kill the puppy?
I went to look at this frame when it was for sale and it definitely didn't need the spray gun. There were a few marks on it but the original paint was so much tougher than the respray will be, so unless you hang it on the wall it'll end up in worse nick in the long run.
But, hey, that's my opinion and only that. Each to their own. At least it's being looked after one way or another.
-
• #72
Did you not buy it because you didn't like the colour ?
True about the condition..I wouldn't have painted it if i was in love with the colour.
Totally agree with the fact that it's being looked after and will surely be back on the road soon.

Actually I liked the colour, just that I wanted to build something fixed and decided to go look for a track frame instead rather than convert a frame that really deserved a geared build. For what it's worth by brother has restored a very tired CIOCC in the same colour white as yours and it does look good too.

Moron! You should've sent that to Pelizzoli so he could've done it right. Now the next person in line needs to correct your bumblefuck of a misstake.
/I could've had it.

I would try to source a Columbus decal for the seatpost tube.
I've a San Cristobal with chrome damage on fork and big paint gashes on TT.
Decided not to restore for that there's vaseline/other water barriers and rust convertors/clearcoat.Unless restorations are done by certain well known professionals you can take £100 of your frame.
However, ultimately it's your bike so if you are happy that's what counts :)
Idiot...
