  • GREEN smoked em?!

  • Killer Bees vs Goons Sunday 2nd at 1pm Downs.

    Sorry where is the diary?

  • This was a really tough, tight game Doughballs sitting and defending resolutely against overwhelming possession from Chukkers. Despite this it took around 10 minutes for the first goal with poor finishing throughout from both teams preventing a much higher score.

Generally a clean game with Mayeut (Man of the Match IMO) and Todd making some great plays. I thought Mayeut was amazing, cool, calm collected and he linked up with Todd and Kieron really well and scored some important goals.

Doughballs were really strong, playing on the break with an inspired performance from Daverage aided by some really good polo from the rest of the team, especially Jimmy and Matt who both had top games. Good team spirit and they never gave up, almost clawing back a win despite always being behind.

Really fun game to watch and ref, well played all

Nothing much to add to Ben's report. Close game, the Fuckers were stronger overall but the Doughballs fought back and there was always a chance they could have pegged it back, but the Fuckers managed to always stay that one step ahead. Would have been good to have the first 15 mins of extra time. Here are the scores:

    Chukker 11:28 1-0
    Mayeut 13:57 2-0
    Kieran 16:45 3-0
    Mayeut 18:02 4-0
    Julia 20:40 4-1
    Julia 23:05 4-2
    Todd 26:27 5-2
    Dave 27:11 5-3
    Mayeut 28:03 6-3
    Dave 28:38 6-4
    Mayeut 33:08 7-4
    Chukker 35:46 8-4
    Hamatt 36:45 8-5
    Hamatt 38:54 8-6
    Dave 46:57 8-7
    Jimmy 50:30 8-8
    Mayeut 51:15 9-8
    Mayeut 52:58 10-8
    Dave 54:01 10-9

  • Damn it, I spaced those scores out nicely and then it just deleted all the space bar inputs.

  • H Bomb, two quick questions, didnt see it in the rules posting last night before the game started.

    1. Half-time, a 'break' in play. I read this as akin to a football match, like when an attack fizzles out, then the half is up. Dave said I'd got this wrong, that it should be when the ball goes out of play.
But that means then the half could be another ten or fifteen minutes, and what happens if you're playing at a location where its impossible for the ball to go out, e.g. westway?

    2. Is there a joust at the start of the second half?

    Thanks

Yeah, I designed it to be after a break in play (goal or reset). The ball doesn't have to go out for that.

But it's not a big deal.

After 10 minutes? It's unlikely, but yes I guess it could happen. The longest I had was 33 minutes.

    2)

Good question, someone pointed this out to me, that it would be fairer to turn it over to the team who would have had the ball if time had continued (so if after a goal the defending team).

This confused us yesterday. Not a massive issue though. Was it mentioned anywhere? We played the first two games with a charge at half time. Again, not a massive issue.

  • No it wasn't. When I wrote the rules I assumed it would be a charge for both halves.

But not charging the second time seems fairer.

I'll put it in the rules

  • Jeez nesbit, no need to make such a massive issue of it

  • haha

  • If it's intended to be one continuous game of 60 with a switch in the middle (no real break), it seems to make more sense for the team with possession to keep the ball rather than have a joust.

I stopped the game at 30 mins when you guys scored. So naturally, the possession went to the other team.

Makes sense now but at the time we were confused as both previous fixtures ended the first half differently, but it's not a big deal. Literally no-one cares.

  • dav-ridge.

  • Nesbit's making a massive issue of it Spoons, reign in your greens.

  • Sorry, GREENs

  • Nesbit's a fucking loose canon, that's why I picked the nutjob.

  • On the subject of GREEN, I feel like our performance on Wednesday night was the most considered and thorough of any team I've played for. We managed to hold a level of composure and concentration, over the hour-long fixture, that I haven't seen out of any of the players before, or myself. I'm loving playing/drinking/hanging with these guys and that's what this league is all about!

I might not have played with any of these guys at any point and I certainly wouldn't have actively tried to help them with their game – and in turn, get help on mine – unless we had stumbled onto the same team in League V. Everything we are learning can be taken away and applied to future teams that we all end up on, thus spreading the knowledge and upping the level of LPC polo.

  • So beautiful.
