https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1304706/Colner-forks/photo.JPGOk, so bought these forks which were listed as track as I didn't notice the drilling... I think they are road, pretty damn sure, but the ebay seller still swears blind they are Colner Track forks... the clearances are pretty big too (about 10-15mm's). What are other peoples thoughts? I'm not sure whether to repaint them for my Colnago... closest I will ever find to Colnago track forks?
-

If they were track forks, they wouldn't have a drilling for a brake.
Seller is either lying or confused.
-
• #206
Or, someones drilled em...
But, it does appear to have a reinforced bit behind the crown? -
• #207
could be post-production drilling but clearances suggest they are road.. contacting colnago to see if they have an original flat-top fork crown lying around? you could buy that and have a fork made up locally :)

But, it does appear to have a reinforced bit behind the crown?I agree, it has a reinforcement so I doubt it's been retro drilled. And as you say, clearances are large. All the evidence suggest its a road fork.

you can measure the rake right while lying flat? if that's not 30, its not track, simplez.. then ebaysue the mofo.
-
• #210
Have you considered having a pair of forks made? The pantographing it something that can easily be done plus finding the same style of lug, then you can have the rake exactly the same.

• #211
Hmmm... could be an option James, I like the idea of finding some genuine ones though... will check oh to measure these. Oh, there is those Vintage build sets that kick about on ebay... hmm...

In all honesty I really don't think it would be that much to produce your own, but agree it would be cool to have some OGs

Buy my fork ffs.

Me :) Send me a fork crown with the design on a drawing (to scale) and I can do it.
-
• #222
^ this was a mistake. might ask you to do that (and pay you if needs be) later on.. :)
-
• #223
You can do engraving James? Maybe I will have to buy scorchs forks... Any examples of previous work?
-

My Benotto also has quite some clearance on the front.. somewhere around 1cm depending on the tires used. And it's an original frameset with track forks. So maybe there is a grey area between ultra small clearance and road clearance.. ?
But it sucks, i know.. clearances should be reduced to a minimum ;)

Kinda secret BB shell so I've blurred the top bit out, but you get the idea..
It did, 60 AUS. The whole sale was a bit of a mess up really... cost lots more than they should of and maybe not even track. Drunk ebaying... never wise...
