there's too many variables for all this bike fitting talk. Unless you see him on it you can't comment.

flexibility, past injuries, asymmetry, intended purpose, power output...
or nah, it feels good when i fixie skid around town and looks well hipster and shit

For what it's worth, team rapha condor sharp all had pro bike fits a couple of years ago and apparently found the recommended positions very different to their own set-ups. Tried the recommended "fits" had poor results and reverted back to what felt right for them.

a lot of sports people develop bad habits and succeed with them
trying to retrain or learn a physical action takes many many hours of repetition to change muscle memory etc. there are many accounts of sports people trying to change or adapt part of their technique for whom their results drop off, but after persevering they make significant improvements
muscle and synaptic memory is hard to retrain, and in moments of stress (eg competition) it is easy to revert to early established behaviours. so often changes in riding position should be gradually brought in, and time given for the adaptation to occur
but of course, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. so have a fit done if there are problems (pain, discomfort, lack of power etc)

Well said, I'm all for bike fitting really just wanted to make that point. Wouldn't necessarily describe something that gets results as a "bad habit" but can definitely see where you're coming from.
Why do you give Jake such a hard time about his bike not fitting? Surely you could say the same things for 99% of the people on here that haven't had the pro bike fit?

JB gets a hard time because he keeps considering aesthetics over sizing.
DJ is a believer in the dark art/voodoo magic of bike fitting.
Neither BJ nor JD are involved in this yet.

I sold my last NJS frame because It didn't fit, then I went out and purchased another without having a fit done. James did not approve.

arm length, trunk length, saddle to bar drop, bar choice, saddle choice, saddle layback.
Another factor with track frame that it tend to have a steep seat tube.
So a normal 54cm TT bicycle with a 75 degree seat tube*, now each degree add an extra cm to the top tube, so it's realistically 55cm TT.
76 degree mean TT is realistically 56cm, etc. you get the picture.
To be fair on Jack, he did get a frame that fit him a lots better than that Leader I remember him riding looking cannily like Graeme Obree on his superman position.
*this is if you set your saddle back as you would on a road bike for comfort.

Ha, true. This was amended shortly after you saw me. Pursuit bars with a 100m stem + short limbs = no. It now fits wonderfully.

thought you said they fit? what was wrong with the pursuit bars?
I really am very excited. I have finally found the perfect combination for me. I have now fitted a set of Soma El Toro pursuit bars (courtesy of apolloxl) wrapped in Fizik bar tape.
The bars have completely changed the way the bike feels to ride. It feels smoother, more responsive and is just fantastic.

Tbh with a quill stem you don't want it too long. Flexy Flexy
You're doing it wrong. Sit the fuck down and use your quads.
