  • Another vote for Open Pro CD here.

  • and Here

  • ignore them! Tb14 all the way.

  • north london thunder cats something something!

  • 7600s dispatched...

Going to try and get them as an early Xmas present ;-)

90% sure I will go for Open Pros too.

  • I have 7600's on Wolber Profil TX's.

    I love them.

    Bought, sold, bought back.

    Nerged

  • Fuck hplsson... Open pros to DA7600 is the way to go.

I fixed brakeless and loaded toured France on my Paul/Open Pro wheelset, rode down stairs, hopped kerbs, rode a BMX track... and they stayed true. Someone one I know was showing off whilst out on a mint condition Bianchi Pista Concept 06, whip skidded both ways without thinking about toe over lap resulting in a written off Pista and his TB14's un-trued.

Obviously there are other variables, but I'm super impressed with open pros.

I missed V-Ls/SloDwns.. So now i have these...

For the nice track build, having realised my Araya's were suffering the abuse.

I have open pros on my road bike as well.

    Ftfy

As TM said though, Open Pro's have a much better rep then H Plus regardless.

  • Regardless of what?

They've been around and popular for many years so most people have at some point owned mavics.

This doesn't mean a23s and Archetypes aren't better, just that they're newer.

The a23 is cheap and now proven. It carries more air than an Open Pro and is now tubeless ready. The Archetype is newer but the quality is really good (no burs and nice finishes). They're a really stiff shape too.

  • I can't wait to build my A23 wheelset up

  • Cool story.

  • Cheers bro!

    don't mess about

  • :)

  • stfu Joe's! :-) But yeah, dat is cheap.

  • Strongly considering doing an a23 hb7600 wheel build too.. need to figure out spoke length

  • Might wanna get the hub and rim first!

  • im trying to work out costs first ;)

    This.

A23 took off where the Open Pro left.

  • +1 for the a23's.. Been riding mine daily for over a year and have yet need for a truing. Very smooth ride and also look damn decent IMO..

  • I like the A23s but not on a classic-ish build, I think they suit more modern builds.

This build seems to be a bit of a Dr Jekkyl so could go either way.

  • Long time no update... my 7600s are at Parcel Force in camden, just need to get off my arse and collect them.

These have been ordered for Xmas, hoping they look good and not utterly gash. If they look gash, I will just get some black grips instead.

And this is the new cockpit. Bars courtesy of Mr. Shinkuu.

  • Dibs sparkly grips if unoliek...

Wish you'd hurry up and build this.

  • k fam. u no think I want to hurry and build it too!?

Still haven't ordered rims though. Or spokes for that matter.

  • I spent months thinking about my wheel build. even booked a wheel build for Mavic Open Pro Rims to Dura Ace 7600 Hubs. Came to the decision to import Araya RC-540 rims. They have a much shallower profile than the open pro and come much closer to the classic Araya tubular. They are also a solid 'road race' clincher rim and a good compromise for japanese build. 36H 3x Spokes will stay true for years. Couldn't tell you the price difference but it wasn't huge. Get the spokes imported with the rims from Alex's and I think you will be happier with the final build.

  • That'll take a month of Sunday's! And I don't really like them ha.

If I got box rims I'd get TB14s no doubt.
