  • Just finished three days of volunteering at Brampton.

You guys are fuckin legends. All the volunteers really make this ride special. Many of them were more tired than the riders and were so helpful and understanding - even when some of the riders were less than courteous - which isnt excusable but is understandable because your body plays with your mood a little from time to time.

I stayed in pocklington twice, and the people there were so lovely that it it felt like home by the time I rolled out the second time!!!

To those still out there, just keep rolling. You can do it - just dont give up on yourself when it gets tough. Back it off a few kph and keep trundling. The body is an amazing machine.

  • How long do they have left to complete the course?

  • If anyone needs a bed in the burgh drop me a line

  • Spotted Finnish Randoneur Juha at Regents Canal. Nice Cervelo. He abandoned after 1000km. Well done.

  • Amazing work all today must have been a tough one with the wind.
    Good luck ed and Vesalius!
The sheer amount of energy burnt is mind boggling.
I had it worked out at 60,000 kcal, or a months worth of normal days....and this is a very conservative estimate*.
    Fully mental.

*one of the many ways I keep myself entertained whilst riding is mental arithmetic.

Which brings me to a question. How do the riders keep themselves entertained on the ride. For me the limiting factor on my rides is boredom.

  • How long do they have left to complete the course?

Those that started at 6am Sunday, will have until 2am Friday (116 hours), those that started later can finish later.

  • Anybody know where Ed is?

  • St ives (cambridgshire) as of 1.30

  • Cool, cheers. call me lame but I had no idea where st ives was and couldn't find it even on google maps.

This is why I don't audax.

    Ah, they've got ages then.

  • Ed rode the St Ives leg in five hours on the way up. I wonder how much longer he will take this time! I can't imagine how empty his legs must be.

  • Vesalius has been through Great Easton, i.e. nearly finished.

  • zanda you're a monster. well done mate.

  • +1 hats off

  • well done zanda!

  • Top job Zanda, 60,000 calories well spent.

Is this good or bad news?

  • It means he's finished, so it might just be good news.

    Well done, Jordan!

  • Good news then. Well done Jordan.

  • Hurrah, well done Jordan and Zanda!

And Greenbank thanks for the interactive rider tracking thing. I've found it quite addictive. Maybe the organisers should incorporate it into their site next year?
