?
cheers, I've seen them in condor.
Really after something adjustable though....
I've found this, but it's only sold in the states, and only comes in black (i'd prefer silver).
Which means postage & customs on something that's not really what I'm after.
Does anyone know of an alternative stem?
Or does anyone know some 25.4 bars?Think the eventual solution might just be to get an a-head converter and go 31.8, but I'm still humping this quill stem dream for the meantime.

I want some spotter bars for my Bob Jackson and would like keep my Cinelli stem. Do any of you know of bars with flat transition and shallow drop that will fit 26.4 stems? Or du I shim up?
0.4mm is nothing. Get some 26.0 compact bars listed here and shim it with a Coke (etc) can.
Or, if you're feeling game, tighten the clamp that little bit more.
It's not like you're going putting 25.4 in a 31.8 stem.

does anyone know if the bontragers' listed sizes are measured outside-to-outside or ctc? I'm after some 38cm ctc (= 40cm outside to outside)
-
• #55
Just measured mine, looks like they're 40cm ctc. They were 42,5cm wrapped outside to outside.

Thanks Authur! appreciate it

I put some risers in a 26mm stem thinking it would be fine, after a while they started creaking real bad, but the same bars worked just fine with a 25.4mm stem...

I think they are measured center-to-center, but i never actually checked mine, just know my 42cm Bontrager bars are the same as my 44cm Deda bars.
So i would assume the 40cm ones would be quite a wide 40cm, being closer to 42cm(?)

Anyone know of other places that sell the Nitto M106 bars?
The only places I can find are Alex Cycles and Tokyo Fixed Gear.
Just throught I'd check before I order from Alex Cycles. The shipping isn't too bad, and there's no taxes (because I'm in Australia), but the price is still pretty steep.

Did you shim the 25.4 bars in the 26.0 stem?

Have you looked at the Soma Highway 1s? Very similar geo. Just ordered some from SJS. £40.99 inc p&p I think.

Nope, live n learn aye...

Bought a set of the Nitto M106's last night. $140AUD posted.
Gonna team them up with a 90º Salsa quill stem on my 'cross bike. Can't wait.

Some highway slightly cheaper but not as nice but noodles aren't really compact drops. The Soma's are.

• #67
And when I say not really compact, I mean not at all - they're classic, almost rando like bars.
-
• #68
Or get some Nitto M106NAS.
Well nice and well cheap..... if you're minted.
-
• #69
you might be able to afford them... me not so much ive made a stupid purchase this week but its exciting
-

Just a heads up... it's a pain in the arse to put the Nitto M106NAS bars into a single bolt quill stem. I struggled getting mine into a Salsa quill and managed to scratch them. This was after wedging the clamp open. Luckily the scratched area will be covered by tape.

i couldnt get spotter bars into a nitto technomic at all, had to get a different stem, so i think quill stems and compact bars are hit and miss

Any ideas about an adjustable 26.0 quill stem with a removable face plate still greatly appreciated.
My aim is get compact drops on an adjustable stem for the tourer. The tourer will also double as a winter fixed with different bars, so I'd like to be able to switch bars and adjust stem height / position without a faff.

Best best would be quill adapter and a threadless stem
-
• #74
What Rogan said.
Or you could try your luck finding a Nitto Crystem. Why they stopped making it I do not know... http://www.lfgss.com/thread75154.html

Can change bars, not adjustable though.
