Donoroad looks great man. Slow but meticulous progress, and it really shows.
Quite interested in parts breakdown. Sounds odd on paper from what I can see, but works really well when you see it.

Road bike wins this thread but then again I no fixie ..

I think they're both winners ha, both great to ride.
Made a pedal room with part details for the road, not really that mismatched I thought, just a bit of a different build to what most would do, which is what I wanted really, something unique.
It really rides fantastically, so responsive, corners like its on rails and accelerates nicely, as well as being comfortable for long rides.

Both have turned out real nice, I love matching track/road bikes! If you ever want to sell/trade those yellow and red atacs please let me know, they are the same colours as my club kit ;-)

Sorry dude, got them NOS and they feel great so unlikely I'll be parting with them.
Couple of quick photos of the pair.

Wow, very nice brace of Donohues TM. Lovely!

Why the inline on the road and layback on the track? How much difference in geometry is there?
-
• #710
Well, running a Flite on the track which means it's actually further forward despite the layback.
The inline is actually more a cm layback, with saddle where it is it's about right. Bought post before realising I need a layback, if I had some spare cash I would buy an ionic ltd to replace it I think.
Clocked up a fair few miles on it so far and pretty comfy, got an italmanburi stem to replace the grammo though as the grammo creaks disturbingly.
-
• #711
Strange to hear Grammo is giving you troubles, mine is silent as it should be.
Both bikes are only one chainring away from perfection :)

Just wouldn't hold the bars, I don't know if the fact the clamp area is polished is an issue, but even with carbon paste they were slipping, now the clamp is tight enough to hold the bars, it creaks like mad. Got the italmanburi here and I think it is going to solve the problem, now just the struggle to get the bars out of the grammo, any tips? Scratched up the bars to hell getting them in.
What you thinking chainring wise? Matching kcnc lattice rings for the road? (:
Also, can you join me on the Cambridge ride august bank holiday? Would be good to catch up.
-
• #713
Had a similar problem with my first grammo, which turned out to be 26.4 clamp. That didn't had a problem with bars going in and out. Since I swapped my road frame, replaced the stem and bars at the same time. Had a Grammo + Spatr bars combo for last year without major problems. It slipped once after bunny hop went wrong, but hasn't happen since.
Matching lattice rings would be pretty, but only that. I guess I'm too old school to appreciate them.
I'll do my best to come on a ride, but it all depends when I'll start a new job, got 2 interviews today, so hopefully it'll be sorted by bank holiday weekend.

It's a 26 clamp, I do think it is because the bars are so shiny, also, I'm a heavy guy and tend to ride, we'll say enthusiastically... The seed of doubt is there and I've tried various things to stop the creaking . I looking at it there is a broader contact are between the new stem and the bars, and the stem clamp is thicker, hopefully will sort it. Seller has offered me a money back guarantee if it doesn't...
You interviewing for more roasting work?
I was kidding about matching lattices, what change would you suggest, just replacing the lattice with a 75?

Got it, it would have been one pricey set of rings to make them custom.
I love mine s75 rings, tried and tested by many, on and off track.Regarding work, ideally it would be a roasting work, as it would be a huge waste of knowledge if I don't continue that way, but at the moment anything that pays bills is good enough.

There you are.
I quite like the lattice to be honest, they're not too common which I also like. Very smooth too, although I do think black 49t 75 would suit nicely, shame I sold mine.

Got bored so has a switch around, think I prefer the usual wheels.

You wouldn't need to TM, look for KCNC's road chainrings, very similair and probably cheaper than replacing the DA when the time comes :)
-
• #720
Yeah I've seen them, not sure if they would suit, but they're in the back of my mind.
Had some dramas today, after managing to get the grammo off, managed to get the new stem on, bars still slipping. On closer examination they have been squeezed out of shape from over tightening the grammo, fucking shite. Not sure how anyone manages with those polished nittos they have been nothing but trouble, maybe it's my size but they just refused to stay put. Shame as they look great and are a lovely shape. They're going in the bin and getting replaced with nice sturdy deda piegas which are a. a better shape b. a fraction of the price c. stiffer and d. not polished, so less likely to slip.
What an absolute waste of £85 those nittos were...
-
• #721
Piegas are the best, I have them on both bikes at the moment.
What are you bringing to the slide Tom? Dono or the Corima?
Also, do you have a spare set of wound ups? I'm thinking of going 1 inch threadless on my mankino.
-
• #722
No more woundups sorry, sold my other pair to pay for the track ones. Corima has a crack in the fork crown that needs further investigation, and probably a new fork, so most likely ride the Donohue.
And yeah, my piegas feel much stiffer than the nittos, which for me is important, and the drops are a really nice shape.

What is the seatpost on the Road Donobru?
-
• #724
Spin Ti, not sure if available still, seems they have changed them slightly...

Spent the morning messing around with the setup, not been riding this enough recently, and with the slide this weekend I thought I better get it sorted. Ideally I could use a 10• 90mm Thomson X2 to run with the bulls, not enough steerer to run anything else stem wise. Anyone got one spare?
