  • As ever perfect potatochop. Going to be bomb. So pissed I missed a pair if alpinas on the bay for 50 squid

  • Tom, when you want to sell this I'm your man

  • Well, I'm really hoping not to sell it...

I have said that before I know, but this time, it's different, I'm older, and I know what I want...

  • Yeah, sure mate.

    • nods head knowingly*
  • I say it because it's just all round awesome... Responsive, stiff yet comfortable, legit bro-pro-geo, light-ish and soon to be lighter... Can't decide whether to paint it or not, might do after winter....

  • well if if there are places it could get rusty its best to do it now to protect the frame,

  • hmm... it's kept indoors, can't see the rust getting that bad? might get a pearl white touch up pen and touch it up myself. Fucking genius idea that actually, worked a treat on the Condor.

  • So waiting for me on my day off on Friday I should hopefully have a black CK headset, the Alpinas and some headset spacers... As well, I've bought a pearl white touch up pen ... My plan, is to clean up and touch up all the major chips and scratches with the pen, then using T-Cut at first, but switching to sand paper if needed, to cut back the lacquer over the "tribal" graphics, get rid of them, then clean up and T cut the rest of the frame... I'm thinking it's going to look alot better once cleaned up. Also going to rid the forks of the alpina logos and relaquer them, am going ot discuss something more exciting for the forks with a mate on Thurs though...

Got a Thomson 25.4 stem which I think may be 110mm so a little longer than the ideal 100mm for running risers, can't remember if it's 110 or 100 though. Also got a 70mm Thomson 25.4 for running some RB010s.

Really looking forward to the updates.

  • Got the forks on alright, liking how it's worked out. Boner said the 1" alpina track forks weren't very tight geo wise but they look the same as the 1 1/8th pair on my Condor, if not a little bit tighter... Just to decide what to do with the decals. I like it as it is, but a bit busy...

  • Looks fuckin' sweet man!

  • Cheers bru! Well happy with how the forks have worked out, and it rides great...

  • when you do sell.
    Dibs forks

  • Sorry fam but forks have been dibsed a few times already...

I really don't plan on selling this one, it's been a journey getting to this point.

    Spec

853 Aero frame - Reynolds don't make this tubeset any more.
    Alpina track fork
    CK headset
    Omniums/Zen
    KMC 710 chain (i think...)
Phil low flange hubs/Velocity aero rims
    Thomson post + stem
FSA (I think) downhill mtb bars cut to 54cm iirc, may cut down a little more and tape them.
    135g SLR
    4000s front tyre, everwear rear
    DMR V8s and custom Restraps

    Pretty much perfect.

  • I personally like the Donohue decals on there

  • remove the spacers and also all those stickers. leave the paint and decals as they are and it will be perfect.

  • Probably will remove the stickers, spacers will stay though as I'll need them when running other bars.

  • Really nice, those forks worked out very well. I am also looking forward to the pic with the integralter on.

    Dieses.

  • where to get 1" alpina track forks ?

  • Search eBay or wait till some pop up on here?

  • Thinking this....

    .. and the camo tape.

  • win. but you should start using clipless pedals ;)

  • win. but you should start using clipless pedals ;)

I do usually run clipless for "proper" rides, I have a knee injury at the moment though and it's much less painful riding flats & straps.

    I'm even commuting on flats...
