Sorry KT, I have to bail on the grounds of (very) limited funds to live on til payday.

^ That's a shame.
I'm currently willing the weather forecast for Friday to pick up ...
-
• #29
If you could do the same for the money in my account, I'd be very grateful.

Sorry Katy, bailing due to lack of monies too I'm afraid. Going to a fancy wedding at the weekend that's going to burn the shit outta my pockets (slight exaggeration but still some serious burnin').
Hope this ride/swim is as brilliant as the last.

Whereas I have a family wedding on Saturday in a church hall that doesn't even (apparently) have an alcohol licence. Kinda struggling to feel your pain on this one ....
We're starting to look a little thin on the ground and the weather isn't looking all that great - Tuesday's electric storm fest made me realise that the chances of me jumping into a pond after riding in the rain are slim. Very happy to stick to the plan, or postpone this to a weekend (8/9 Sept good for me) - if we don't do this I might head down to Brighton instead on Friday.
Thoughts?

If you do this on a weekend when I'm free then I'd be all over it. Not that this should/will influence your decision. Just sayin'.

10am-3pm forecast is quite reasonable - am up for a ride either way but could save a swimming trip to when it's actually nice enough to dip.
then again, that's banking on it being nice enough again this...year?

Dedham is beautiful, make sure you go rowing too!

^^ Fair point. Let's do it. 8am London Fields. Come ready for all eventualities! We can always do it again if it turns out ok.

8am london fields! Christ thats early for a Friday...
-
• #37
Means we get there for a reasonable time. Was toying with going via brick lane on my way. Would the promise of a beigel make it any easier?
-
• #38
Haha, that would, but don't mind me. Beats getting to greenwich for 8am anyway!

Weather forecast is picking up ...

I won't be making it tomorrow.Have a good one.
I'm up for it next time. -

^ Fair enough - see you next time.
I have not been very prepared at all and have just finished getting sorted - I apologise in advance for lateness / slowness.

Hey kt, I've twisted my knee playing football. I was hoping it wasn't too bad but a long ride is no longer a good idea. Sorry.
-
• #43
Oh no! That sounds painful. Well I'm going to do this - if nothing else so I know I know the route.
-
• #44
Oh KT. Such a shame about this ride but I hope you miss the rain. Ride safe.
-
• #45
I hope you had a good ride.
Really wish I could've gone but after I went to bed at 1.30 my 2 year old got into my bed at about 3 and sweatilly kicked me all night- so it wasn't meant to be. -

I've been away for almost a month and had the pleasure of being able to swim in the sea daily. I'd really appreciate if someone could someone give me a heads up for the next planned ride/swim session?

^^
Well, I'll let onyerbike give the final assessment of what a ride's like when I've had 4 hours sleep, no breakfast and only have a hazy idea of the route - but I had a brilliant time.Route turned out to be really lovely - especially when we cut across country from Castle Hedingham to Dedham (much improvisation), the weather was surprisingly good - only a few rain drops when we were swimming, and Dedham was beautiful. Very lovely swim - under the watchful gaze of a swan - in the mill pond. The river looked good for swimming as well, but we were put off by the rowing boats.
I'd be happy to ride this again in early Sept - 8 or 9 good for me, assuming the weather is alright. I'll also try and post the approximate route when I've got time if others want to give it a go.

sounds lovely, would like to join you for one of these

Glad it went well.

I thought it was a top route, generally quiet and winding and when the sun came out it was pretty glorious. And as you approach Dedham, it was signposted. Signposted!
Couldn't believe the regenerative powers of a swim at the end of the ride, even with the passing families looking at us like we were slightly mad. As 70-odd mile rides out of London goes this is definitely one to repeat.Great day, great company..just wish I was here on the 8/9th.
this would be awesome, I need to change jobs so I can control my own day and do the work in the evening. have fun.
