Lovely riding with you chaps and chapesses. Again, thank you Katy for being the being the driving force behind this.
High point? The look on the barmaid's face after she'd asked Pete if he'd like his water bottle filled up - "no thanks, I'm about to pour my pint into it", came the unexpected reply.
Low point? Being mistaken for the CTC by a passing Coracle.

^^^ Not sure about soon - but will definitely think about routes for next year.
I had a brilliant day - thanks all for not setting off without me!
(The CTC comment did cut deep though, didn't it)

It must have been all the Caradeechay.

Coracle captains are a bitter, twisted breed, I wouldn't read into it too much..

Yeah rudderless mofos.

Sorry Nick I completely forget about the beers in the rush to get to, on and off the train!
haha, no probs, they're yours now, karma for agreeing to carry them!

Yeah - luddites. Who'd paddle around in a round boat that won't even go in a straight line. As Fox pointed out, that would be like cycling 80 miles on a bike with one gear ...

We could always go for a freezing dip after our own ride of the falling leaves.
Swimming for the brave. -

I haz wetsuit top for cold swims!

I am definitely a fair weather swimmer - and am fast running out of weekends before it gets properly cold.
-
• #138
I reckon an 80 mile ride, a stop short of the lake/river to change into swimmers then a bunch sprint finish/hill climb and a plunge into proper cold water = aces.

• #139
just remember to drop the bikes before the plunge...

It'd be like inverted triathlon.

• #141
without the running

I still think an 80 mile swim followed by a 1 mile cycle is a winning idea ;)
So those planes we saw... They were '50s British jets as I thought, but they're actually Norwegian - two Norwegian De Havilland 'Vampires' which were flying from North Weald airport as part of the air show on Sunday celebrating 70 years since Norwegian troops were stationed at North Weald during World War II.

Cor, they're gorgeous (weapons of war notwithstanding)
They go well with the Sunbeam Alpine we passed

When I saw the planes I wondered if they were not the same as each other, but thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Nice pics Jordan

Just realised I had no idea which river we swam in, so I looked it up. The Stour.
Forgot to mention: we saw one of the most contsable-esque trees by the road that day - and the windmill Jordan snapped was pretty tasty.
Next up I think we should swim in the sea: should be warm for another month yet.

If you're heading by stratford anytime soon they're in my fridge, but when my london prides run out, I can't promise their safety ;)
I need to upload a few of my photos...
