I thought Hoy had gone too early on that one. Amazing how much speed endurance he has. I can't believe he didn't fade
-
• #1864
He just wound it up and then went again. Almost certainly the strongest sprinter at the games .

So which rule in the book did she infringe exactly?

The ones which got her disqualified and relegated.

^^ If you've got an iPad you should download the Reuters Olympics 2012 app and have a look at the photos of Laura (and her nails) on that, they're great.
I'd highly recommend it anyway, the pictures are great and look amazing on a retina display.

The ones which got her disqualified and relegated.
3.2.042 During the final sprint, even if launched before the last 200 metres, *each rider* shall remain in his lane up to the finish, unless he has at least a clear cycle-length lead and shall not make any manoeuvre to prevent the opponent from passing.
(text modified on 1.01.02).
3.2.043 A rider may not challenge or pass on the left an opponent riding in the sprinters’ lane.
If the leading rider leaves the sprinters’ lane and his opponent attempts to pass to his left, he may
not return to that lane unless he still has a clear cycle-length lead.
3.2.044 A rider passing on the right of his opponent, who is in the sprinters’ lane, may not crowd him or cause him suddenly to reduce speed. -

and the DQ?
I did think the relegation tonight was harsh as Meares clearly touched her first.

DQ from what, the team sprint? That one is just utter bollocks from the commi. It was actually a relegation as well, not a dq.
That was an emotional roller coaster.
Women's Omnium – nail biting to the finish.
Women's Sprint – controversial but ultimately definitive and the end of an era.
Men's Keirin – possibly the best I've ever seen Hoy ride, and 4 medals awarded!
