• The reddit account could be true

harrowing, best to avoid that one.

  • very sad. RIP :(

  • Rip :-(

  • I honestly can't believe a word of that reddit account of the accident. Sounds far too much like someone's imagination gone wild.

Nobody with the humanity to crawl to him etc. and feel the necessity to write about it straight after getting home could be so emotionless, could they?

I feel I would do the same thing (crawl under and offer what help i could)

Blogging it? Well, sometimes it helps to share..

RIP rider.. I shudder when I see cyclist wobbly up the inside of buses and hope I never see this happen in front of me..

  • Just read through this thread after hearing the news this morning. Now I feel utterly empty. I ride that way all the time, usually with one of my kids on the bike. Awful news and my thoughts go out to all those whose lives have been ruined by this.

    RIP.

  • Very sad end to such a positive day for cycling.

  • Saw the shocking account on Reddit last night, just horrible. Poor chap.

I don't know whether to be angry or sad. Wish there was a truly effective way to prevent these tragedies.

  • RIP rider, be safe everyone.

  • RIP rider, just horrible.

Thoughts go out to his friends and family.

Ive2dogs has just mentioned on another thread that it was his son who spent the last moments with the rider.

  • RIP.

Condolences to the rider's family and friends.

  • RIP – nothing else to say.

  • This is just heartbreaking, I'm lost for words -again. My deepest condolences to family and friends, my thoughts are with you.

  • RIP. Ashamed to say this hit me a lot more than other reports due to the eyewitness account. I know it shouldn't, any loss of life is terrible, and feel awful for thinking this is any worse than another person passing.
Condolences to the family, hope that this highlights road safety with those who can do something about it and stop this happening again.

  • RIP rider.

What a crushing low, after the TT joy of earlier in the day.

Was struggling to find the right words

  • Ive2dogs has just mentioned on another thread that it was his son who spent the last moments with the rider.

I met Bruno and his son at my first beers. Although I can't remember his son's name, I enjoyed his company a lot. He's a very open, courteous person. What he did for this rider was tragic, and I hope he can recover from the experience, but he'll have provided as much comfort as he could offer to him.

A tale of incredible selflessness by one person, and a warning to the rest of us.

    RIP

  • I was really enjoying the Olympics until last night. Things just took a very sombre turn.

  • It breaks my heart when the logo turns black.

    Rest easy rider.

    So this.

RIP fellow rider. very, very sad.

  • So sorry for the Rider and their Family.

That Reddit link is horrendous, but if it is true then, I'm sure it was the very best thing anyone could have done in those circumstances. Amazing. That poor Rider wasnt alone for those last moments, all anyone could wish for. RIP.

    :(

    :(

  • I worked with the cyclist, it's completely tragic.
Is your son alright Ive2dogs Sir? I know that he might be of great comfort to the cyclist's girlfriend, having been the last person to speak to him? Would you be willing to contact me: marekacarter(at)mac(dot)com
Many thanks and kindest regards. Ride as safe as you can everyone.

  • This is horrendous, we are devastated for this guys family and friends.
We have been complaining to the Olympic Authorities about this junction for 6 years. They have failed to keep their promise to provide safe routes for cyclists around the Olympic park, they even route all cyclists from north east London through this junction to get to the official cycle parking.
    We are very angry.

  • I cannot believe I am reading this...

    RIP

  • Rip :(

  • I just heard the news. So sad. RIP cyclist.

No amount of sporting success can break the sadness of an avoidable death.
