  • Ted's Garmin said he was inside the time limit by 1 sec

  • I'm just glad Rod Munch saved me from having to find it.

So is Ted in or out?

  • Out. Twitter in meltdown.

  • Again.

  • Chances are he would be out regardless... Nevertheless sad news.

  • But Lance told me he would be in. Fuckin disappointing me again.

  • He's currently out. The race jury have been known to re-instate riders the following day before.

There is some dispute over the time, as King believes he didn't have a timing chip on the road bike he rode the stage on (it had been fitted to his TT bike). Unless the commissaires can prove his time by other means, that alone should be enough to allow him to start tomorrow in my opinion.

  • Perhaps a stupid question but why was he riding a flat and short tt on a road bike?

  • He was a victim of the Stage 1 crash, leaving him with a separated shoulder. He tried his TT bike this morning and the shoulder couldn't support his weight on the aerobars, so he chose to ride the stage on his road bike.

  • Like I said, chances are he wouldn't be able to continue anyway.

  • Ted's Garmin said he was inside the time limit by 1 sec

Maybe my eyes can't read the screenshot right but 15.211 mile = 24.479 kilometre

Was this actual distance for everyone else?

  • Yes.

  • Hmmm... Can't see how it should be possible to cut corners or take shortcuts. On the other hand I can't explain the difference in distance.

"unless you're in an ambulance, you keep going"

  • You daft twat.

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw your comment.

You'd think I would have learned to stop and think before I post...

  • You'd think I would have learned to stop and think before I post...

You'd be in a minority of one on here if you did that.

  • Apparently all the team buses are stuck in a traffic jam so start maybe a bit later

  • Traffic jams on the Cote d'Azur in July? Who could've foreseen such a situation?

  • they should ban all the buses that don't make the time cuts

  • That's just what you think.

  • Good quote from cycling weekly:
“On note of Ted King, anyone who can ride at 28.6 mph+ (32:32) for 25km with separated shoulder on a road bike should be in the Tour de France.”
