Hit by a van as he pulled out into me from a side road, about 4.30pm tonight.
Driver stopped and waited.Result- ambulance took me hospital where I was checked out, got x-ray and told I had a broken collarbone.
Back wheel written off, (hope I can save the hub) and frame will need to go to bike shop to be checked out, not bent etc. (any one recommend a good one for this in London?)glad i'm ok really, good easily have been a lot worse.

girlfriend just told me that someone has been hit on Morning Lane, Hackney, by the crossing at the bottom of the cycle path opposite the new Pringle store etc.
Bike bent on side of road and rider in ambulance
don't know any other details but hope it was just minor and they are ok -

Came off just after the junction of Acre Lane / Bedford Road southbound. Young girl partially overtook me as I was navigating the very carefully deliniated hole in the ground there like a tram track, and she immediately turned left into Lyham Road without completing her overtake. Wasn't really anything I could except try to follow her round the corner, but the entrance to that road has a kind of stepped curb that I hit at a 45 degree angle - front wheel just followed it along straight across the mouth of the junction while I went down. I was not very pleased.
She continued on a little way up the road but did stop (her kids were in the back of the car waving their arms animatedly as I was falling so I figure they'd alerted her to what she'd just done), and firstly didn't see me, and then did see me but turned anyway because I'd stopped (I assume this is either because I'd slowed down when I noticed her trying to kill me or because I'd already fallen off my bike at this point). After a bit of back and forth she did apologise and I asked her to pls be moar careful.
Lots of people getting pulled out on and so forth atm. Drivers, y u no use eyes and brains?

Because there's no consequences. Well, none they feel anyway.
Bothers: get a PI claim going. They might be more careful when their insurance goes through the roof.

Cheers both. She didn't actually hit me and I'm uninjured except for a small graze on my knee so there wouldn't really be much of a PI case, luckily or unluckily depending on your viewpoint.
I think I'm finally going to complain to teh council about that fucking road, though, it's a nightmare. The way the defect sits in the road makes it difficult to stay in primary because it moves from the middle of the road inwards, so at some point you've got to ride over it and hope you don't hit it at an awkward angle. The stepped curb on that side road is just hideous as well - I used to wonder why so many cyclists would hop up on the pavement over the dropped curb a few yards back and then rejoin Lyham Road from there, but on reflection it's probably because if you took the turn legally you end up hitting that raised concrete and they don't want to risk coming off.

She is guilty of causing an accident. There is a PI claim to be made.

Great news - finally had my jaw unwired at the weekend! Can now eat mashed potato and scrambled eggs with wild abandon.
Not-so-great news - after opening my mouth wide enough to fit a toothbrush inside, I discovered that one of my molars was split clean in half when my jaw was originally broken, and nobody clocked it on the x-rays. Today I was told that I'm going to lose it. Wonderful. -

Just back from A&E. Sorry for slightly nonsensical messages earlier - think they've been removed which is probably good. Huge thanks to those who got in touch. Long story short, I got doored. Police came. No idea what's going to happen now. Damn nearly took his door off - bent it back and damaged front wing. Feeling a bit mangled but very lucky.

Sorry to hear that, Sparky. Hope you feel better soon!
Anyone know anything about this? Photographer Nick Turpin just tweeted it. Looks brakeless, and by the Royal Mail bag perhaps a messenger?
