Looked to be 3 riders down just after Stockwell on the way in this morning.
Hope all are ok

Got hit by a right-turning car on Amshurst Road just by Hackney Central tonight. Elbow is now very painful and restricted but I don't think broken. Bike frame is a write off. Very unpleasant.
Made it home OK but Kings was going to be a 4 hour wait to see someone who would then decide whether or not to send me for an, X-ray. So I'm going to see how I wake up and probably go and see a GP.
Sorry @coldharbour

oooof. Hope the cunt has to pay through the nose for that

Hope it turns out OK and (you don't say) it wasn't a hit-and-run. coldharbour will need to quote for repairing that ...
Which street were they turning into or out of, and from which direction?

Horrible thing to happen to a beautiful bike (and a beautiful person), hope you got their details.

Thanks guys
I was Westbound. They were Eastbound and turning right into station car park at Hackney Central by the Costa.
They did stop, and couldn't have been nicer about it after the event. Have their details and a couple of witnesses, so I hope should be clear cut.
Am with friends and being taken care of.

Glad to hear that you're OK.
That's going to cost someone a fortune! -

Lawyer up now
My experience is people couldn’t be nicer when they just think it’s a bike and that a bike costs £200 at Halfords. However their disbelief that a wheel alone costs more than that makes them less nice, let alone cost of a custom bike that is a write off, clothing and damages to a person.

I read the Jeffcott thread before I came here. Cost of the bike means we'll very likely be dealing with insurance. Would be keen to here any individual experiences of that, via PM if preferred.
Just had an X-ray. Elbow fractured. Will speak to the driver this afternoon, to let them know I'll have to log with police to pursue insurance claim.
Will police be able to chase up CCTV?

Are you a member of BC or the LCC or any other cycling organisation?

Ride member of BC.

Call member services on Monday morning, they’ll get you hooked up with their lawyers.

This is literally what happened to missus's Talbot too .. driver was very nice and offered to pay cash not knowing the value .. shat themselves when they saw the quote then we lawyered up (BC) to get it sorted, it worked.

I had Leigh Day represent me through BC after I was car-doored. They were excellent.

as soon as we could

Spoke to Leigh Day today. Very helpful.

The number of Talbots destroyed / damaged in collisions strikes me as unusual. @coldharbour any thoughts?
Heal up Dumps but be prepared for a long boring drawn out process. Claim for every last thing no matter how small.

It's also weird how its always a short London Irish scrot bag in a noisey orange volvo who is responsible for the damage. It's as if he would gain financially from the owners having to get new bikes built....

Stacked it this morning due to my chain slipping off the big ring onto the smaller ring. Hole in my Rapha 3/4's, bruised arse (hopefully not a worn cleat type of injury), elbow and hand.
Bought a new FD at the weekend as i think this is the problem, is this likely or do I need new chainrings ?
-
• #1972
Ouch, hope you heal up soon.
As to what the problem is, seem slike the new FD has something to do with it. Most likely incorrect installation. Post some photos up?
-
• #1973
I installed it so its highly likely.....its my fault, I knew it was a problem but chose to install my new car radio and not the FD on Saturday.

Going to say minor as the guy was walking wounded but cycling home in South Norwood Country Park when I came across a guy who had just gone over the bars and smashed up his ribs, looked like he went down a steep muddy hill and then hit a rock, pinch flat front tyre kinked cables where the bars twisted under him. Called an ambulance but they figured not worth sending someone unless he changes condition and fine to walk about so walked him out of the park to the tram stop and left him to it.

Ouch.
My old man got knocked off his bike by a driver today in Newcastle.
He and Mum just got back from the hospital - suspected broken rib.
He got details of the driver and a witness, plus notified the police. Will be taking the bike for a check-up tomorrow.
Textbook reaction - well impressed.
