2017-06-21 - A rider came down in cycle path after pedestrian walked out - Victoria Embankment, opposite Whitehall Gardens, and before the works they've been doing on the cycle path/kerb.
Back in January, pedestrian walked out, just after the bus stop when you come onto Victoria Embankment from Parliament end. Three cyclists in total injured and minor bike damage.
How I love pedestrians /s

Hi guys. I hope so this is the right topic. I just want to write you about what happened to me yesterday night. My bike get stolen.
This case happened yesterday night around 19:45pm. The address is 4 Halkett House, Waterloo Gardens, E2 9HU. I was working with UberEats, I just jumped in that building for exact 2 minutes and I left my bike front of the door of Halkett house where is a bin area, next to the big rubbish bin. When I came out my bike was not there. I stayed there for 30minutes I was going around the building, I saw some children around playing and their parents, and the other side of the street for a few steps there is a playground, I saw there childrens also.
I bought my bike in Halfords, Stepney Green on the 24 Feb 2017. Also I have an adult 1 year bike care plan. The type is Carrera TDF mens 54cm LTD Edition. That is all what I know. The value of the bike around 320 pounds. I would like to get it back really. I used for everything, to go in my workplace, at weekends I used for delivery job.
Frame number: A550326948

Do you have a record of the frame number? If so it's worth reporting stolen to the police and giving them the info. If you don't have the frame number then I'm afraid to say that it's very unlikely you will find it again.
Still. Have a look at this thread. It has great advice on how to proceed. Good luck!

I was involved in an incident on tuesday at about 18.20 on the Kennington Road heading south. The road has a separate bus lane where I was cycling. An ambulance with sirens and lights was coming by and I checked over my shoulder to see where it was. I looked back ahead and a large (650 Suzuki) motorbike was turning from the central (regular traffic lane) across the bus lane in front of me. Before I knew it i was on top of him and then on the ground. We landed right in the junction for of Chester Way.
I'm OK apart from bruised knees, hip, foot and thumbs (slipping over the hoods I guess) and the bike has at the very least two buckled wheels.
The ambulance behind us stopped immediately and checked me over leaving a contact number and i got the number of another cyclist who had been just behind me. The Police attended shortly after and took a report. Motorcyclist didn't make much comment apart from talking about damage to his bike and how "these things happen". His first comment after he got up was something along the lines of "Right, come over here and let's talk about this!"
I would appreciate any advice at this point. I think I will contact the rider (whose details I have) and ask for my bike to be replaced. (https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/296520/) I am pretty certain it is his fault. Does any one know if ambulances have forward facing cameras?

He turned across a lane without making sure it was clear, sounds like his fault.

I was hit by a car (blue citroen?) at 725 this morning. I was waiting for the light on Holloway road outside wait rose towards archway to turn green whilst standing with my right foot unclipped from my bicycle on the middle lane. When the lights turned green, I proceed to set off, the blue car on my right hit me with his front bumper, then wind mirror causing me to lose balance. I scraped along the entire left side of his car and fell over on my right. landing on my right hip and elbow.
The car drove off within speed limit as if they are unaware of the incident, however it is improbable as it was very low speed and i was in front of him waiting for the lights for the entire duration of the lights changing from red to green. I had one cyclist stopped and other cars behind me saw this happening.
I'm fine, just a bruised hip. went on and cycled the ride anyway, but scuffed bike and shorts. reported to the police etc. but didnt get full reg or witness numbers (stupid.)Please let me know if you are that cyclist. or the other cyclist who carried on with their lives.
any help or if you passed by and witness anything would be great.
thanks

Me down at 6pm going down Westferry Rd tonight . Taken out by a nodder on a BSO wobbling in the gutter who then decided she wanted to take a right without any indication or so much as a look as I took a very wide berth whilst overtaking (such a wide birth I was on the opposite side of the road) . Police wouldn't come for a cyclist v cyclist which I thought was pretty shit. Pretty gutted about my Bowman tbh. Broken 6700 lh shifter, scratched pedal and some pretty large gauges out of my rim. Got her details so hopefully she'll stump up the cost or else I'll need to go down the legal route. Ambulance was called for her leg which hadn't turned up after an hour and 50 mins which I think is pretty poor form.
So very lucky not to get hit by cars going in either direction as it's a busy stretch of road at that time of day.
I'm OK, a few scratches and but my cycling mojo has seemingly evaporated however I'm home with my children and that's by far the most important thing.
It's just such a massive inconvenience for one nodders inattention.

That sounds shit, but at least you're ok. Shame about the bike, was it rim vs chainring? Maybe it's a chance to upgrade to cool carbon wheels... :)

Crap incident. I've often heard that the police won't come when a cyclist hits a cyclist, it seems to be one reason for under-reporting of crashes. It's partly because they tend to assume that in such a crash injuries will be minor (which, thankfully, in your case they are), so that they tend to treat them like damage-only collisions, i.e. as being only for the insurers to sort out between them. Let's hope sorting out replacements and repairs goes without a hitch.

Cheers, have costed it up and have dropped her an email. Hope she replies. If not, will need to pursue through the small claims court. Anyone got any experience of this?

was it rim vs chainring?
Yep glad it didn't take chunks out of my leg!

Claiming on your contents insurance might be a possibility too if going down the SCC route seems too onerous for comparatively small beer.
Even after a SCC judgement you still have to make them pay you...

Could be an option. Costing the damaged parts up seems to total £280.00 Might give British Cycling a call too to see if they can help.

I crashed in this exact same way 5 years ago, and whilst the bike was fine, I ended up with a broken scaphoid. Two months in a cast and another year until it felt right again, so consider yourself lucky!

I had a cycle on cycle crash last year, was cycling round the roundabout on Rotherhithe New Road only to bit by a local youth cycling fast the wrong way round the roundabout. Hit me straight on before I could brake taking me off my bike. I did not break anything but I still have the scars. My lovely sloping crown chrome forks were totally mashed but other than that bike little damaged. The bloke was a total waste of space when I was on the ground recovering myself his response was to shout at me 'get up' then his excuse for going the wrong way round the roundabout was he was on the run from the police. He of course did not offer any recompense for the bent forks.

Oh dear, so sorry to hear that! At least the person that hit me has a conscience. I sent her over a list of costs and looks as though she'll pay but am sure there is the possibility of her disappearing before the money comes into my account. In saying that, she's a journalist so pretty hard to hide! She's a really nice lady and actually feel a little bit bad in asking her to stump up (in a very English way) but must keep reminding myself it wasn't my fault. Faith in humanity restored (so far).

Lucky the road was slippery allowing us to slide in the London grime. I cycle for economy reasons so would be pretty screwed if I broke my wrist.
Kind of making me reconsider commuting on a nice-ish bike. -

Had someone try to brake check me after overtaking while cycling with a friend as we didn't move out of his way until a suitable gap came up when he sat on my back wheel revving, swerved around for the most part tho think the left of my bars took a chunk out of the back of his pickup somewhere. Stopped infront of him to have a word only for him to edge forward and stop then edge forward again to make sure he hit my wheel. I'd take a guess and say if I was alone he might have gone full crazy looking to kill you hit+run. Totally calculated seemed like he'd brake checked riders before. 1 spoke gone but don't think the wheel is wrecked, bike left at friends. 2 witnesses who just happened to be walking by but as I'd just rebuit pompino hadn't put camera mounts on yet so no video(typical it would be that day).
Came off the bike this evening. Took a sharp left after coming over Battersea Bridge heading south, hadn't realised I must have had a slow puncture and the front just went out from under me.
