Weeeeeeellll, slight disappointment on the bike front :( they messed up my colour/paint scheme even after emailing it and confirming by phone.. Decided to keep this one though and not send it back, colour won't make it ride better and a respray can always be undertaken at a later stage if it keeps annoying me.
Saying that, the frame looks fucking awesome and there's some amazing craftsmanship in it. So can't wait to get it on the road!! Pics later...

Out of interest, did you specify a type of riding or what the bike would be used for when at Roberts? When I got mine I felt too stretched out with too much of a saddle to bar drop for a while but now I can happily ride the thing hundreds of miles without even a though of fit or comfort.

^^I've read the damn thread!

either way, you'd expect a fitting session from anyone who's making custom frames.
Robert Penn spent a whole afternoon riding around with Brian Rourke before they built his. -

tomsvoboda did get fitted at Roberts though, no?
-

The beauty of going to see someone like Roberts is that they're local and able to fit you in.
Reckon you can talk to Roberts again about this?
Just because someone can weld beautifully does not mean they have much knowledge of fitting.
^ Very much this.

tomsvoboda did get fitted at Roberts though, no?
They measured his body, but didn't use a proper bike fit jig thing.
-
• #309
simple measurements do not take someones flexibility, core strength, past injuries, imbalances, limb discrepancies or postural alignment issues into account
-
• #310
To be fair, it should've fitted him enough to be able to make minor adjustment for such body poseur issues.

Hey, so to answer some q's...
The RAL was wrong, it's even on the build sheet and they still messed up. The geo is indeed the same as on the build sheet so I guess I do have the right bike even though it's not quite right!
CR did ask what kind of riding I was wanting to do and I said up to 100miles/day max so he apparently planned it along those lines..
DJ: you're right with all you've said. Scherrit basically said the same, that static measures are only good upto a very certain point but actual riding position and contact points have to be set up on a jig to be accurate.. I feel pretty scammed that he didn't do it!!
Ed: true what you said but for now I'm going to stick with Scherrit and see what we can work out together. If it all fails I'm going to badger CR as it's taking the piss.
I get the feeling (as DJ said) that he just flew through the fit and didn't give it the time and proper sizing it required.. Starting to run out of patience with it to be quite honest after 4 months and looking forward to my Gangsta coming back which I really shouldn't be saying but unfortunately true.. Oh well, onwards and upwards! -

Sorry fella was just trying to be positive... But if DJs style is what you're after I'll stick to that in future.
End of the day if it's wrong, get them to do what you paid for.

Cheers mate, appreciated. I'm usually v positive but I guess it's just got to me a bit! Yeah I'm still hoping that everything works out obviously and as I said Scherrit is on the case as long as I need. She does cycle beautifully so I would love everything to work out!

In the meantime, if you got the fit sheet from Scherrit, it's worth putting that down on the Gangsta and see how that ride.
-
• #316
Yeah definitely planning to do that and shall compare the two, thanks.. CK HS (it's getting difficult to find the white on black ones as I think they've stopped making them) coming for the V1 so should be rolling next week if all goes well!

It doesn't sound like you've got your ideal fit sheet just yet. Once you have you may well be able to get the Roberts to fit you?
-
• #318
^ could be and I'm still experimenting a bit to see. Scherrit reckons that the fit is almost spot on and tbh it feels really good apart from the sliding. Apparently he's been thinking about it and can't come up w a sound reason as to why I'd be sliding like that and thinks its may be due to the way I ride. I've been trying to 'feel' how I'm riding more and noticed I really rotate my pelvis forward and that could potentially be it. I'm going to pop over to scherrit again in the next month and see what we can work out..

• #319
I am interested to see what he comes up with, I have noticed I am doing that alot myself for unknown reason.
-
• #320
You probably have, but have you tried different saddles in different widths? Anything wider than 135 and my legs push me forward off the saddle.
-
• #321
me or Tom? or both? :D
-
• #322
White saddle as it was cheap, will be changed at some point..
-
• #323
fucking sweet!!
-
• #324
Fuck yes, son!
-
• #325
Hang on, how have you almost ratted that up already!?
Hardly the wrong colour is it?
Isn't there commonly a slight difference between paint as advertised and the final product?
Fit I can't comment on, it's not my bike/I'm no bike fitter
