Meh... too small.

You looking the large V1? I'll keep an eye out for you just in case something comes up..
I'm guessing that a 74 deg seat tube is going to put slightly more weight on your hands/wrists than a 72 deg one? -
• #229
Don't think it's realistically 74 degrees, it look rather slack, and they base the Gangsta on an old English track frame, which mean it likely to have both 73 degree ST and HT angle*.
Also seatpost angle usually doesn't matter that much if you can set the saddle further back, unless you have old saddle with little room on the rail to move it.

This should be your signature.

That could be arranged.

The chain/cog arrangement is absolutely amazing.
What cog are you using? Is the super toughness worth the money? My current set up is omnium/eai sprocket and DID chain. Noise from the chainring, but not too bad. Was thinking about the super toughness chain for the looks, but price seems steep.

Yeah, everything's new (on the Tonic I posted in HHSB) and I haven't done many miles on the set up due to weather (perhaps 300). This is the exact chain: http://www.tokyofixedgear.com/products/33-Chains/4234-DID---ECO-Chain---Silver/

like I said, exactly the same ;)
the noise will go away soon then... I've done 1000's on my omnium chainring and the anodizing has worn off, the teeth are perfect and it's quiet. assuming it's clean and lube'd

Ah - good stuff. Will look forward to silent runningz :)

Yeah it's the Super Toughness and the Gold Medal Pro. I couldn't have justified them at full price but sourced them on this forum hence thought I'd go for them. Can't really comment on any long term observations but from a smoothness/silence point of view I couldn't beat it (used to ride S75/DID Racing Pro/EAI and that was clattery as hell even though it lasted for years..). I'm still not sure I'd pay full price for the two but I'm super chuffed with them now..
Been playing about with stem/bars/seatposts and so far a 25mm layback with a 70-80mm stem and drops with hoods seems to work nicely. Once I have that setup I'm going to figure out the best riser/stem combo.
Regarding dimensions, my ST is 74 deg, HT 73 deg, TT 56cm, ST 56cm ctt. The Gangsta's (46cm) ST is 72 deg and HT 72.2 deg so it is significantly different geo.. -

I did 850 miles fixed, brakeless and loaded through France to Spain on a super toughness and the chain was in pretty much the same condition (albeit much dirtier) when I got to Spain as it was when I set off.

Did you not get fitted for the Roberts?

If only Izumi made knees :)
The chain of choice here too, on all my fixed gear bikes now and will continue to be. Currently runs smooth and silently on Dura Ace Cranks/Hubs/Cog, as it does on Omniums/Mack & Royce/EAI cog. Used to be the same on my Roberts, which was Phil BB/Sug75/EAI.

Hey, I was measured for it but not actually put onto any jig or static bike or anything so not an actual fit I guess. I really really hope that it'll measure up ok but I'm getting alot of weight on my arms/wrists and no matter what I do then I can't really relieve it..
If you check BMW's other website the angles are ST72 and HT72.5. I'll post a link after..
Off to work! -

74 degree seat tube is normal, when I have my bike fit, I have an in-line seatpost and a modern saddle (fizik), tried lowering the saddle a tiny bit and tilted the nose a little higher? (should be either horizontal or slightly tilted).
Do let me know, I found another one of the V2 and the geometry is exactly the same.

If only I could afford to run them on all my bikes ha, bit of a luxury that.

• #246
Well that's just how I roll.
More luck than luxury. Last one, ebay £10. One before from here, £20 (obviously both used) Bought one new for the Merckx from ribble when on offer, was £40 iirc.
Fit, forget and look the bees bollocks. But anyhoo's....Tom did Chas offer you to go back with it built up for some help with adjustment?

Wipperman all the way, very cheap and never rust with easy removable without tools.
-
• #248
There's nothing I like finer than chewing my Wipperman off at the end of a long, hard day.
I'll never have another DID chain. Agreed that the Super Toughness looks great, but so does the KMC K710 for less than half the price. Mine's now silent as a Liberal Democrat Party Conference.
-
• #249
KMC D101 for me. Ran one fixed brakelez for a couple of years and on my Roberts since I got it. Sure I lube and clean every 100 or so but both have been silent since I got them.

Thanks b'jam. I didn't specifically ask and he didn't mention, do you think he'd do it for me? Could be worth a shot.
Ed, cheers, I'll try out a few more configurations and see what works.
This here be the website and geo I was talking of:
It's the 46cm (medium) one. Think the TT comes to 56cm..
Unfortunately you'll both have to join the queue boys as there's a few ppl in it ;) (if I even decide to sell mind...!).
