I think there's enough evidence that it's nowhere near safe to ride if you don't ride it in the English winter.

You're never going to see pedals this close to Iain's bike again.
I was planning to put two pedals on, but at the exact moment I was about to put the second one on I heard a Saffa cry from downstairs about going to the bedroom, so I panicked and hid behind the door.
Fortunately he then disappeared into the bathroom, so I made good my escape.
Not long after that he fell asleep on the bed with his clothes on, dreaming of chainring failures...

I look like shite!

To be fair, I took the pedals off so some fuckers wouldn't be tempted to ride it.

Yeah you do!

To be fair, its probably the only bike spotter can pick up -

And you guys have no respect for other peoples bikes. I am disappoint.

I put that pedal on very carefully. Although admittedly I didn't use grease.

You looked like death...

Good, can't add any more weight to this!

Another question,
How easy would it be to swap out the rear hub on these planet X deep section wheels?
At 1.72kg per wheelset seems light though to be honest i cant remember what mine is currently.
Or is there another set out there?

Be careful. You are perilously close to bringing this thread back on topic.

It needs to be re-railed!
Iain, just buy one of those rims (they're on offer at £75 a pop) plus a 20h PX front hub (also on offer at £20 - weight not quoted but it can't be much) and I'll build the fucker for you.
I reckon we can get a sub 750g front wheel (minus tyre) for £100 - how much does you're American Crappix weigh?
EDIT - quick calc gives me the following;
Hub - 100g (?)
Rim = 250g (claimed)
Spokes = 150g (estimated using heavy as fuck double butted spokes and 290mm length)
Nipples = 20g for brass x 20 (ish)Total = 520g

but they're tubs...
-
• #2645
Tubs rock, stop being a girl about them!
-
• #2646
all for front tubs, just not on the rear of a fixie skidder
-
• #2647
He won't be skidding with that chainring anyway...
-
• #2648
i think you mean, he can't skid if it's not ridden
-
• #2649
Lets see if we can go a whole page without "he's not going to ride the bike" comments.
I rather enjoyed seeing some weight weenie chat again.
I agree with OSR, get tubs.
-
• #2650
+1, those rims that OSR mentioned, nice light hubs, some light pedals and BOOM, the weight will reduce massively.
what, before it is safe to ride?
