Good point well made.

Im thinking that once this is actually built, there are things i can do to make it lighter. One of the things will be to replace the the seat post and saddle with an integrated one

or run it on the moon......
remember weight /= mass
weightweenies don't think outside the box.

A Bert one?
-
• #1859

Just lose weight yourself. Then you'll have much less to carry about.

I hear muscle weights more than fat so get eating Iain

It'd be quicker, and probably as cost effective, if you moved to a moon/planet with lower gravitational field. Thus solving the problem of weight.
-

drillium. obviously. carbon bits love them some drillium.

You can buy my Use Alien if you want. 40 quid and 132g. 'Scuse the crap picture, phone camera:
That New Balance is a fatty by comparison. They should have stuck to trainers.

Iain, I've packed that tool for you, will give to osr tomorrow
-
• #1867
It weighs a whopping 176g though
-
• #1868
^^^crap clamping mechanism though. I've lost my bladed use post in the Cupboard of Doom. Sort of miss it.
-
• #1869
I've got 2 of them (a Ti and a Carbon) and once set up they're fine. The ti has a single bolt clamp which is easier to adjust but less secure.
They look sweet as well.

possibly.
or
Tune
I would mind out with Tune. Some parts seem to be weighed on the "Italian Scale" .. my Tune KOM-Vor saddle advertised 97g actual 106.8g i.e. 4g lighter then my stripped and modified SLR at 111g!
edit .. might want to add MCFK to the future seat post list as they build post to suit the rider if you order direct

So here are the new additions that arrived in the post.
Introducing the all carbon Chainring!

The cog sadly isnt anything special. So this is a point where i can save some weight as well later on.

'designed by lfgss, destroyed by chainbreaker' on the next one please.
-
• #1873
I guess soon i will be known as ChainRingBreaker
-
• #1874
That chaining looks like it'll last 10 minutes and surely this other surley cog is lighter?

Avoid aluminium sprockets (apart from >20t for hill climb use) as they are not Super Safe. Echo Ti would be nice, 19g of nitrided drillium for only £35, although the long boss of trials sprockets can create problems (chain line, no lock ring clearance) on track bikes, so it would probably need to be ground down a couple of mm.
tbf I don't think he could chop it off with anything smaller...
