^^Of course Howard, thanks. I do remember recoiling in horror at the welds on the CAAD8 when I first saw them. Such a pity, it was the ultimate touch for the aesthetic of their frames.

The welds on [strike]my[/strike] Laner's CAADX were pretty good I thought. But some I've seen are a bit poor. Of course, they just look poor - they are probably better than the US frames for strength and durability. So I've heard.

You can always file them, should you have a lot of time on your hands, or be the cause of filing, if you don't.

just another alu frame with slack dsnv-head tube angle

...which is a relatively slack-head-angled frame.
It looks like the wheelbase, ST and HT angles are pretty much lifted from the CAAD10. It even uses those road-softening chainstays. I guess then it's tarck, not track.

I know :-) sorry, I meant, it's not just 'another' Alu frame. It's a CAAD, which is just about the best Alu frame money can buy, or so I'm led to believe.

Yea fair call. It was bought for far far cheaper than an equivalent weight road post could though. It does the jobs just fine so I'm not going to swap it out.

Now that I know its a shared crankset it makes more sense ;)
They've been like that since alu production went to Taiwan. Generally, they are better than most alu I've seen, but they aren't the smoothed welds from the USA days. They are also less consistent, too - some are better than others.
