BB clicking having had the spidering tightened a couple of weeks ago. However it only starts clicking when 'up to temp' i.e. after a good couple of miles. Plausible that heat in bearings could be a factor or me just clutching at straws?

Not heat.
It could actually be anything but the bottom bracket.

Swapped out seat post, saddle, wheel and skewer already so narrowing to BB area as only started after they took it out. Either way it's back in bring looked at. They are loving my hope freehub in the workshop...

Stem? Handlebar clamp? Pedals? Torqued all nut and bolt? Drivetrain indexed and adjusted? Inc. limited screw and trim?
-
• #7856
Pedal bearings?

Spacer had collapsed - guess wasn't put together properly last time.
All good now and click free*
*TBC after next big ride
Shame, I fancied one of those nice purple frames under warranty :)

One of the shimmy plastic ones or the wave washer?

Put my carbon wheels and posh tyres back on this weekend. So smooth.. until I forgot some tight my pedals were compared to my commuter and hit the deck at <0.5mph whilst frantically trying to unclip.

Looks like my steerer is buggered on my 2015 supersix evo HM
There has been a bit of play in it recently, so tried to take off the stem and have a look but the bolt just spins and spins. Won't loosen off, won't tighten off. The topcap won't come off either.
Anyone had similar experiences?

Sounds like a loose or buggered expander in the steerer rather than a buggered steerer no?
-
• #7862
Yeah, sorry, poor phrasing.
-
• #7863
No problem, undoing the screw does nothing at all? Just spins?
-
• #7864
Yep. I'm pretty sure the allan key engages with the head, but it doesn't tighten or loosen off.
-
• #7865
Not sure, was just glad not to have an argument around paying for the work and left promptly!

Can we have more photos of this Pink bike, it's awesome.
-
• #7867
That's very, very nice, is your pride the only thing that got hurt? Would be a shame to damage that bike.

Can you somehow hold the topcap still whilst using an Allen key to tighten/loosen the expander? Something similar happened with mine and it took what I can only describe as 'serious fettling' to get it out. All was fine in the end!

The carbon saddle got a slight war wound, but I managed to cushion the rest of the bike's fall using my knee and elbow (by pure chance rather than skill).

Thank you! I'm very fond of it.
Summer wheels:
Winter wheels (bought shortly before buying a winter bike to save using this one in shit weather):

Is that how you fixed yours? Did you replace the the expander? What with?
-
• #7872
I think what had happened with mine was the topcap was firmly tightened onto the expander, which itself wasn't done up quite tight enough to grip the steerer, but just enough to not be able to remove it. I vaugely remember having to tighten and loosen the expander bolt quickly whilst holding the top cap still.
I did replace it with the slightly beefier version, but have since gone back to the super light version. There wasn't anything wrong with it, I just didn't want the hassle again. However weight weenyism is a strong thing so I put it back on

Beaut! What's the seatpost? Superleggero?
-
• #7874
What wheels are they?
-
• #7875
Yup - albeit a Chinese version.
I painted mine- no warranty any longer.
