CAAD9 getting a bit of TLC. Removed cruds, cleaned, tidied up cabling, tidied up SRM wiring for the ten millionth time, new bar tape, new chain, re-greased speedplays. Next - chop steerer and take a decent photo.

Very confused by the geometry. Former TT bike?
Yeah it's a TT / Tri / Ironman / Multisport

Just looked at this:
Low Cost Speedplay Grease Injection - YouTube
I think i'll give it a go; NOT going to pay £25 for grease gun .. any grease will do? I have either shimano (green) or park tools anti seize
-

Well, yah, that's exactly how I did it.
I went for Lithium, I'm sure I won't die etc. Phil grease for the rich.
The lack of sealing is impressive

I'm watching that one too.
Still can't find a documented difference between "Criterium" and normal Cannondales from the 80s/90s. Apparently they're more aggressive geo and a thicker DT.
Think I might have settled on gearing for mine (last page) but I'm in no-man's land when it comes to wheels.

@ Dicki - I've not had one, but it just look gnar
@ Howard - please take a decent photo of that! I'm liking the red touches. I also heeded your advice on the Saeco; picking up some 3T Funda Team forks this weekend (43mm rake, 369.5 a2c)

You want something lubricating. Some anti seize grease will sort of harden into a crust. I'm pretty sure the white lithium grease I have does. Personally, I'd use something decent.

Where as Speedplay pedals are for the ?
Pretty sure even from Condor OTS Phil grease is only a tenner.

This is a pretty good site for finding info on older Cannondales http://www.vintagecannondale.com/catalog.html
That R700 is in the '92 catalogue (page 32), it also explains the frame design 2.8 (page 27)I just got a new mech hanger for my 'Dale in the post, going from a singlespeed setup to a 1x10 hopefully by the end of the day,
I was wondering if it would be at all safe to mill out a 1.5" steerer stem to a headshok size? -

Where as Speedplay pedals are for the ?
For the Rad, obviously. And for people who don't like dicking around with one sided pedals when doing hill starts at the lights.
Look, the pedals have *naff all *sealing - any grease you pop in will be washed out way before it can degrade.
I'll save the Phil grease for my BB30 bearings and Headshoks.
Anyhoo, bosh. Matchy matchy, like the 90s never really left. The headset is utter gash, but I just can't bring myself to hacksaw the steerer. Yet.

^^ fare enough. What are the wheels out of interest?

Kinlin XR-300 on DT 240s
-
• #719
wonder if this is worth a punt ?
Poor thing. That's a Rush - a burly XC bike. It's successor, the RZ, lives on I think.
Is that what malandro was riding in Epping? Or was that something burlier still, like a Prophet?
-
• #720
Dunnoooo, I don't think I came along on that one.
Prophet at Epping would be lols though
-
• #721
boing boing boing
-
• #722
^^ Yeah it was the ride where dicki unintentionally converted to singlespeed.
-
• #723
Dicki- I used to have a Rush, they are great bikes.
I have got a full set of replacement swing-arm pivot bolts etc etc still all sealed in their bags, I sold the bike before I fitted them.
You are welcome to them if you buy the frame.
-
• #724
Oh, yea. V. surprised if it was a Prophet. Didn't even think it was full bounce.

• #725
Where did you source Kinlins howard?
Just for no more than £200 :)
