Can you be persuaded to share your wisdom?
Here's a start. Some weights guesstimates but hopefully gives you the idea.
Frame is 1.6kg and with the fork about 2.2kg all in (guesstimate)
Wheels: Farsports deep section tubs on novatecs: 1350g inc. qr
Tires: Tubulars circa 350g each
Running gear: SRAM rival shifters (355g), 1x10, Ultegra 12-28 (208), X9 Type 2 rear mech (250g) Ultegra chain (280g)
Cranks: S-works BB30 circa 550g with BB and thorn single 39t ring
Cables: Gore ride on 300g (guesstimate)
Stem: budget 150-200g
Bars: budget 250g (planet x carbon good place to start)
Tape: lizardskins dsp (50g guesstimate)
Brakes: TRP eurox mag (103g ea.) or eurox alloy (120gea)
Saddle: fizik gobi (180g)
Seatpost: budget 150-300g
Pedals: crank bros egg beater (220g)About 7.5kg all in.
Whatever you do get a carbon seatpost or shim it down to 27.2. With an ali 31.6 post it's brutal.

I had a 31.6 Thomson on my CX bike, did P-R on it.
I still wake up screaming.

Gonna rebuild this beauty soon...
Gotta clean it and order a new rear mech hanger first

Nice to see that it's been so beautifully looked after.
A picture like that would make the OP of this thread proud.

With wishbone stays too. I'm surprised you can still sit down, even now.
Cupcakes: another thing worth noting is that 105 5700 is an unsatisfactory combination with canti brakes. I'm not sure which version you were going for but if it's modern 105 with the hidden shift cables I'd think about using SRAM / Campag instead. Or pony up for some kind of cable pull adapter like a travel agent.

Get it stripped and repainted. As long as it isn't cracked you should be able to make something nice out of it.

I don't know if you've noticed my new bike, steel, standard stays, 27.2mm carbon post...

Howard, how bad is the performance with cantis using 105 levers ?
I'm not sure which version of 105 the gruppp in question actually is, but its a couple of years old at least.
I'm a little sceptical since surely the cable pull is the same for all the shimano brake levers. (Happy to be proven wrong though, and much as obliged for the warning).

Id rather use sram, but not sure I can justify buying a new sram group that'd do the frame justice at the moment.
The main concern at this stage as I mentioned is the wheelset. I'm feeling drawn to a custom build of novatec road hubs on velocity a23 rims. Tubs would follow later; in the meantime I have some clincher CX tyres and would later use the a23s as road training wheels to give a nice shape with (say) 25mm rubber.

Terrifying. But if you are racing you can always slow down with your feet. Or hit a tree.

5700, 6700 and 9700 all have a tweaked cable pull ratio. Wade your way through the confusion.

Apex? Cheap n cheerful and works very well. Easy to find used.

Yeah that's a nice start. It's a shame Stans don't do an Iron Cross with a braking surface. You could try Alphas and go tubeless but I'm not sure if Alphas will work with low pressures.

If you're worried about road braking performance then go for mini v-brakes ahead of cantis as they offer an improvement. Fitting Swiss Stop green is always a good upgrade too.

^^ Howard, I've been meaning to get back to you. Thanks for the detailed reply! I'm still leaning towards a23 or archetypes onto novatec hubs (24/28). I do have to choose the lacing pattern; I'm thinking 2 cross front and rear. It looks like the a23 are better tubeless than archetypes, so might favour them for that reason.
Picking up my 105 bits tomorrow I hope, so it's just wheels and bars to get so I can start racing on it. I think the buying of light bits will have to come later.

Can anyone track down that photo of the floating Cannondale road bike held up by helium balloons at some trade/marketing stand to show off how light it is?
Cannae find it for the life of me. Thanks like -

Didn't Hippy make some?

Excuse the crap BB photo but this is the CAAD9 frame I got from Jambon and now built with Centaur groupset and 3T stem and bars. Very pleased with it and rides really well - super comfortable.

I am Jambon - i had it put together in Feb and have just done 4,000km so far and doing LEJOG next week on it so pretty chuffed.
How did you manage to get it so heavy?
