Slowly getting used to the shifting. Really happy with the bike. Carbon + wider tyres definitely soak up bumps better.

That's a black set of tyres away from being proper beaut

What's the width of those tyres like? There wasn't enough clearance at the chainstay to be safe on my Supersix with 25 mm Pro 4. Had to switch to a 23 mm tyre.

I have the same issue on my Supersix Black.
What wheels have you got on? I noticed that most of the builds with 25's on have wider rims

Shimano RS81

My reynolds are a very similar width, and a 25mm tyre measures up at nearly 27mm when fitted which makes it very close in the chainstay

Yes, probably only about 1 mm on my bike. I was a bit worried about the wheel going out of true but the guy at Condor, who did some work on the bike, was more worried about flicking up a stone at speed and getting it jammed in the tiny gap. Can't say I notice any difference with 23 mm Schwalbe Ones, the 25 mm thing is probably just hype and I think road bikes look better with narrower tyres anyway.

Don't have anything to measure them, but there is a little bit of room left both front and back. Just using Open Pave CG 25mm on the stock Mavic Aksium S wheels. Not sure if there'd be much space at all left if I mounted them on a wide rim.

Yeah i just put 23mm open corsas on.
On yours is the gap smaller on the non-drive side?
i had to re-dish my wheel for 11sp which makes a bit more room in that case

Nah, that's a guy over on WW's.

Yep, that's the side you need to check.

It's not front and back you need to worry about, it's the gap between the side of the tyre and the chainstay.

If you got a small Cannondale, the clearance is noticably less than the regular sized one.

Another one from the WW forums.

20 mm tyres then? Mine's a 54 so I can get 23 mm on :-)
-
• #2819
The smaller have even less clearance, max 23mm on the rear.
Probably why Cannondale released the new SuperSix with 28mm tyres clearance.

Bought NIB SRAM Force 22 brakes and shifters for £188. Barganious.
Slowly collecting other bits such as front and rear mechs, cassette and chain.
Wheels is tricky. I dunno if the 2011 CAAD10 can take 25mm on a 19mm wide rim?
-
• #2821
It should.
-
• #2822
Sorted. NOS CXP14 it is.
Not hunting grams here, yet. I'm fat so...
-
• #2823
CXP14 is wide? used to have that wheelset, they're in true Mavic fashion narrow.
-
• #2824
19mm wide rim=13-15mm internal. Think you misread
-
• #2825
I meant it in the sense that it's not a 23mm rim as per usual these days.
Rode CXP30's on my Concorde Pista and I had a few scares as it felt my rear tyre would come off the rim riding hard. That was 19mm as well.
re:shifter chat
SRAM is better ¯_(ツ)_/¯
