  • ^^ How wide are those bars Howard?

  • Bugger, that mean I now got two frame to look for now.

er... I mean, nice one Neil.

  • Do it.

  • ^^ Not very! 42cm, same as my cross bike.

  • 8.5 to 9kg when finished with 2*10 XT I reckon.

That's very light considering the OTP Cannondale carbon F29 with the carbon leftie weight similar.

  • ^^ 42cm!!!

    Damn :-/

  • Lefty weighs more than the fatty and the otp version probably has inner tubes :)

  • Do they? last I remember they were around 1100g* which is very impressive for a suspension fork, what does the Fatty in general weight?

*vague figure barely remembered from Slowfurry's fat bike project, so must be very accurate.

  • Fatty is about 1200g - but that includes the steerer and headset bearings. Lefties about the same give or take a few 100g but doesn't tend to include the steerer and other mounting bits.

You do get more travel though

  • New Slice?

  • Not that I know of, just saw the shot and thought it looked very purposeful. Alright, I was just too scared to post it in porn.

  • Where did you see the photo?

  • who's the courier riding the cannondale track ... no not max crowe those jokes are long gone now !
saw him sachaying his way through mayfair Friday lunch
couriering on a c'daqle track shame on you sir
    thast should be sunday best

  • That's Tim,

And he rides the crap out of it

  • anyone had any experience with the dreaded bb30 creak?

I've just got a caad 8 and am planning a pre-emptive strip and regrease of the bb - any tips? Theres mention of loctite on other forums but that seems a step too far

  • I've replaced one set of BB30 bearings so am probably not the man to listen to.

    Some basics would be:

    • Get the shell really clean
    • Grease ALL THE THINGS
    • Make sure you push the bearings in dead straight

What I found slightly tricky was judging when the bearings were tight enough to the circlips to stop pushing them in, I ended up inspecting the inside of the shell with a torch a few times and finally thought "that looks good enough".

I wish that there was a "proper" way of determining that step.

  • anyone had any experience with the dreaded bb30 creak?

Yes. It's usually because you are running a shit chainset from FSA.

If it isn't creaking now, don't mess with it.

If it starts creaking, get it fixed on warranty.

It's unlikely you'll have to glue the bearings in with loctite as you have a cannondale made (well, licensed) frame with an all-aluminium bb shell.

  • Loctite the bearings - there's not much that can go wrong, and every possibility that it will fix your problem.

My BB shell used to make cracking noises under heavy load - Now, I just wash and go.

  • Was that constant, or at one specific crank position (you massive fatty)?

I've got a "crack!" noise with the left crank forward under high-load at the moment...

May void your warranty - check with CSG first.

One position - where my massive bulk was hefting down on the pedal while going up hills.

    Loctite away, lardyboy.

If it were to void the warranty, I would insist they replace the whole bike.
