Have you got a hub that isn’t laced into a wheel?
If so, place hub over said bottle cage rivnut, insert skewer and thread into bottle boss, tighten cam on said skewer so it tightens the hub against the frame. This should pull the thread upwards while the hub pushes back against it and it should tighten the whole thing back up -

Actually nah it’s fucked. I’ll buy the frame real cheap off you as a favour
-
• #10579
the nut and m5 bolt method is a lot simpler like in the video above
-
• #10580
not really much difference tbh, and you'd only buy it for the swaggy paintjob
-
• #10581
Even easier if you have a rivnut setting tool.

Anyone know where i can find paint codes for older Cannondales? More specifically a code for lightning white from the 2007 range (not the cider)

• #10583
Random facebook piccy from mate posing with a purple caadx and Si cranks, so must have fucked off the topstone sora in late January and impulse bought something actually available right now....
Will find out more later in the week....

The new model CAADX actually looks quite good, geometry isn't a million miles off the Topstone, i just wish they had done the cable routing differently
-

Iirc it’s very hard to get the codes - they weren’t recorded - unless you can go back in time and ask the guy doing the paint on the day.

Wonder why they're sticking to 1 1/4" forks on the caadx. There's very few aftermarket options which is annoying
-
• #10588
Yeah, Precision Color made the paint and i have the Cannondale code for LW but it gives no indication of the RAL. Bar trying to get PC to send me an old can of paint i suspect i'll just have to try a few gloss white samples.

Have you got something painted in this colour already?
Various automotive paint shops will digitally scan a painted object for a small fee and match and supply the paint for you.
I used http://www.spccoatings.co.uk/ in Park Royal, i got a 98% match to a frame colour that cross referenced to a Mercedes colour

@mcmyk just going to look into it now.
Surprised he dropped all that extra cash on impulse........ wonder if he got any discount.
Hopefully will actually see it at the weekend and take loads of piccys for the forum. And colour is Deep Purple :)

becuase barely anyone buying a new CAADX complete gives a toss about aftermarket forks
-
• #10592
Obviously but that's not going to be the reason is it.
"What size fork steerer should we spec on this?"
-"how about a more unusual one with fewer replacements?"
"Why would we do that?"
-"Because nobody is going to change it anyway"
"But why wouldn't we just use the normal standard taper?"
-".... coz cannondale" -

Thanks for the tip, i do indeed, i've somehow ended up with matching Lightening white CAAD and Capo frames and think the black carbon fork on my CAAD would look much nicer in a matching white as per the Capo (tried the Capo fork on the CAAD and it looked really nice IMO).

• #10594
Capo has a longer headtube. Are they different sizes?
-
• #10595
Nope both 54. Capo has similar HT length to newer CAAD's, my CAAD is older Optimo geo with a shorter HT.
-
• #10596
I thought the 2010 Capo was just a remake of the CAAD5 track which predates your CAAD8
-
• #10597
Not sure on the date of my Capo, all i know (think) is my 54 Capo HT is 156mm, my 2007 54 CAAD HT is 146mm.

Wow, looks like more than a cm from the pictures.
Fair enough

So this worked a charm for about 10 bottle insertion / removals. Going to see if I can work a clean Araldite job on it now

what an idiots at Cannondale...
Had an issue with my 2016 CAADX (vibrating rear stays), contacted Cannondale and they said they would send me a new frame. Today I picked up my bike and surprised I was: they sent me a similar 2016 frame. Strange policy when you agree in the first place the noise comes from the placement of the calipers (on the seatstay). Did a first ride this morning (see video).
