I'd be replacing the grips altogether. Partially taped risers look much better than the rarity of seeing them suggests. Those make the front end look much too clunky.
Stem/frame envy. And wheel envy actually.

Fuck yeah, love it!! Such a stunning frame, wheels, etc...Grips aside, of course....
I actually don't mind the white saddle (well, I don't hate it) maybe a perforated one would be nice, but yes, prefer the pink turbo from OP (if I had even had the choice) but where d'you find one of those buggers?Very nice and very envious!

Nice! Where did you get the 650c open pro from??
-

D., this is Mavic Open 4 CD, they were 700c, 650c and 600c even

...and so, this Eddy Merckx's journey around the world continues
From Russia, with love...
The Frame came amazingly well packaged (no nasty surprises) with little goodies stuck to it, like Feeder Fish to a Shark. A Super Record Headset, DA Track BB, Araya 650c Rim, and the beautiful EM Panto'd Stem....
Such a beautiful Frame and lots of nice detail.
As you can imagine, this purchase has wiped me out. Her Majesty's finest at Customs certainly weren't distracted enough by the Olympics to miss a trick as well. So, it's a Parts-Bin build for now, plus a couple bargain buys to get me rolling. I managed to hold on to some parts from a previous build (mainly Dura Ace 7700) which, I am informed is what most riders were using at the time, so period correct and just happens to be one of my favourite Groupsets. A few other Japanese parts, Nitto Pursuits, MKS Pedals, Izumi chain, FiveGold TT protector add to the mix.
I had a make-do rear, but no 650c front wheel hanging about the place, so spent the last couple weeks hunting for something to get me going. The Corima Aero (shod with a sweet Veloflex Record Tub) came up and then a Shamal, which I couldnt resist...
So, next up is to save for a nice polished Cog, decide on bars (position and maybe cut), grips/tape and maybe a Dura Ace TT ring. Most important is to get a pair of Dura Ace Low Flange Hubs to build up onto these puppies...

Hah, it certainly deserves one ;)

Well played. I got tempted by this a while back but too small. I wish my parts-bin looked like yours - I have to make do with random chainlinks and nuts/bolts I cannot account for.
-
• #66
I have those random chainlinks and bolts too, pretty much all that's left now.
These were the parts I had left until last (with the cull) and under any other circumstances they would be more than fine, but this Frame has set standards. Hopefully just a wheelset away from doing it justice.Too small for you? I'm 6'3" and with a bit of extra post showing this lines up with the saddle and drops position on my other 60cm+ bikes, so assume it's a good fit for me.
