Just signed up for the senior race. Nervous.

Also, how many laps of derny follow by how many laps of racing will we have at HH?

Four laps total last year iirc, three behind the bike then one racing. Though at Good Friday they did three laps total, which is probably enough on a big track like Herne Hill.

Might spectate. Never been to HH. Not brave enough to post as "in"!

Definition
Riders compete in a sprint after completing a number of laps behind a motorized pacer who leaves the track 600/700 meters before the finish.

The pacer shall ride within the sprinter line, starting at 30 kph and shall gradually increase speed to 50 kph which should be achieved at least 4 laps to go (250 m tracks). He shall leave the track as directed by the Commissaires, in principle 600-700 metres before the finish.
For Junior Women and Elite Women the respective speed shall be 25 kph and 45 kph.

Total distance is 2km so 4 laps at HH would be sensible enough

I enjoyed this event a lot. The insane rivalry between derny riders was probably the best bit. When the younger one did a cheeky extra lap before the final race, I thought the BeardedDerny was going to clothesline him aff.

I'm already coming up with excuses for not doing well... :P
