Inspired by my lurking of this thread I decidedto try some Harlequin wrap on the aforementioned broom handle:
Could be better, I was hindered massively by the tackiness of electrical tape. How can I go about getting the pattern more even.

Scuse my ignoramousness, what are those shifters please.
Not sure, but the model is written on the side so I'll have a look next time it's out of the shed. They came as standard on a Raleigh Airlite for around year 2000
They are Shimano SIS (shift index system). There seems to be a number of models, none of which specify which ones they are on the side so can't be more specific than that, sorry

Drop levers on moustache bars are the most comfortable and offer the most hand positions, an personally I think they look pretty good compared to say bar end levers. Set up like this:

Perhaps I'm being an eejit, but is it possible to do the 'harlequin' style thing with padded cork-style tapes? Or is this just for retro flat tapes?
Yes. But it will look gash because of the thickness.
