  • don't see why you couldn't use one from a 45/45?
    have a free non-branded-carbon one for you if the above falls through:

  • I'm not sure tbh. But it turns out since faffing around with it, I've learnt that it has the wrong bearing in it in the first place, and I'm having a real hard time trying to figure out what bearing it needs. Bloody LOOK.

  • french forum?

  • Tester can you email me about the headset cap regarding the caad10 please

    Butterycyclist@gmail.com

  • For those lucky people with CAAD 10 and a tester cover that has worked, what height is the compression ring?
    Because I think somewhere in taking it to the shop at some point in it's life the headset gubbins don't match the originals. Because, I can't close the gap whereas other CAAD 10 owners can.
    Unless someone wants to tell me I've got it massively wrong in my assessment and tell me what I should do.

  • tell me what I should do

    Take it apart, lay out all the parts on a table in the order and orientation they come off the steerer and then take a picture. Then we can have some idea of whether it's an assembly error or just some really out-of-tolerance component.

  • I need to get slammed on my Cannondale CaadX. Before I go measure the headset, just to make sure I have understood:

    I think the first number (i.e. 45, 46, 47) is the outer diameter of the top of the head tube.

    I think the second number (i.e. 2, 3) is the depth of the cap, so should be equal to (distance from top of headtube to top of compression ring, less a nominal tolerance to stop it bottoming out)

    Have I got that right?

  • I suspect I'll need a 47/2 if the CaadX is similar to the Caad10 (but will confirm with calipers this evening). Have you any 47/2 left?

    Yes

    Yes

  • Excellent. Thank you. Looks like 47/2 is correct. I have sent the money by PayPal to sts@grafixbyjorj.net and included my preferred size and postal address .

  • oh hai tester .. this is what I have atm:

    Can I use one these covers that you have instead?

  • Diameter suits one of my 45mm ones, you just need to double check the depth, see http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/207812/?offset=225

  • Will measure and PM you; to confirm its a tenner PayPal gift right? I'll wait till payday ..

  • Yes, £10

  • Cap received, stem slammed. Thanks again.

    For anyone wondering, 47/2 works great on a caad x.

  • Hi Tester,
    I've paid for a top cap but can I get one of these too? It's for a caad10 so I guess that's 47x2?
    Happy to wait until the top cap is ready too? Lemme know and I'll pay now if you have a spare left?

  • Yes, there is just one 47mm one available.

  • Ok I'll pay now and you can make the call on whether to post it now or post it when the top cap is ready. Just lemme know. Thanks!

  • Paid!

  • Hey Tester,

    When do you think you'll have some more 47's in stock? After one for my Caad10

    Thanks, Neil

  • When do you think you'll have some more 47's in stock?

    Some time in October. The following people and anybody else requiring sizes other than 45/46/47/48×2 should prepay before September 15th if they want them made alongside the next stock batch.

    @McVittees 46×4
    @via_condotti 46×4
    @noiser 46×4

  • Tester, with this talk of new 47's in stock, would that mean a trip to the machinist? any chance of a steerer bung group buy?

  • If you can arrange it; bear in mind that it's £40 for the first one, and they would probably all have to be different diameters, with everybody having to take responsibility for accurately measuring the internal diameter of their steerer.

  • Any 46 x 2 in stock?

  • No, only 45mm at the moment.
