vat man can smell my finger , cos i got a rad bike. as it is it makes a great little beater. going to really enjoy my ride to work tomorrow, i think ill leave early and probably turn up a wee bit late too.
thing is the wheels have track hubs. and that frame is 130mm . ive put some spacers on it , but the drive side track nut must be held on by about 2 or 3 threads , even with an ounce of lock thread on it ,i just dont feel safe.
needs wheels , drops , brakes and then some gears . and if i get gears , ill need new cranks. aaaarrrrgggg.

Those hubs have hollow axles?

Don't blame me if you die.

So just £325 and you have a perfect road machine bar a few small parts, most of which the majority of cyclists would already own, and the seller is open to offers. What is wrong with the world?

Was only trying to help, if I didn't already have that exact groupset waiting for a frame I'd be all over it.... Would suit the blue Ciocc nicely as well.

Well you can't mix and match shimano/Sram and Campag, so don't go for 105's if you're gong campag.
I'd say the ideally on a frame like that would be ceramic open pro's, so you get that old school grey ano look, with longer lasting colour, and then silver spokes and silver hubs. Otherwise go silver, silver, silver.
Personally I'd go A23 over Aeroheads, as they look the same and weigh the same, but are a little wider.
However, on a frame like that I'd almost be tempted to go for something deeper - NOS Mavic CXP30s******* in champaign would be nice imo.
******* REMEMBER if you buy CXP30's make 100% sure they have the inserts!
This guy's shop in Italy has them: http://www.ciclimontanini.it/index.asp?pagina=MAVIC-CXP30&PG=11&ID_PROD=1469&USO=S&ID_MARCA=%&ID_SOTT=315&origine=
He's written English is good enough and he's very helpful. Rims are cheap, but postage brings them back up to what you'd expect to pay here.

This.
If you love it that much, you'd have kept it.

cant you get 105 hubs with italian cassettes ? that would work fine ?, black hubs. silver, silver , i dont know why. just does it for me.
i have a23's on a steel frame . love em. wanted to try aerohead , they would be a bit more nimble on a lighter frame maybe ?.
cxp 30's ..... would match the frame webbing really well , .......... those new h son rims look ace too with a similair shape , ...cheers for the input.

This is going wrong.
-
• #47
got to say though , chainring grinds are so much easier on a carbon frame than on a steel one.

All just armchair opinions.
then if your implying i should just get out and ride the bloody thing , then im done.
thing is a used rim is maybe not as good as a old one. and bearings too. i reckon things like used bars seatposts and saddles are fine , but things like headsets , bbs and wheels are better of new. ...... but then theres cheap and quality.................
i prefer big settees too.

The webbing, on frames like this, how is it made? All filler? hollow filler? carefully crafted and brazed thin sheet metal? What is the secret of the webbing?! I must know!
The way UK VAT works for small business is a ball ache. We lost a mega bucks sales opportunity (£3m) last month as we couldn't negotiate with the VAT lot. Despite trying to negotiate with VAT nazi's couldn't get a deal, so had to kill the deal. GRRRR
