dont fret, its no where near finished , i just wanted to set it up and go out and ride the thing. reckon buy tonight , if the rain fucks off ill be able to go out find out what its like between my legs. got a new headset , get a brake on it , get the chainline sorted , just get it set up , safe to ride and find out if its a keeper.
what id love to do , is eventually put all old or NOS italian parts on it, all from the mid - late 90's . but , that will take time and £££££'s.
i reckon i could buy decent used parts , , and in 2 - 4 weeks have a pretty fine road bike . a bastardised ugly looking but fully functional roadie.

put the kettle on. of course.

A fully functional roadie as in, gears?

Cool bike!
It looks much better as a FG/SS than it did as a queer gear bike
Keep up the good work and remember to regularly update the thread so we can all see!

i keep procrastinating over these wheels ....... http://www.lfgss.com/thread84198.html
ok , so they arent period correct , but , i do like the look of those deep v on the frame , they seem to go well with the webbing. plus performance wise , carbon is supposed to be super stiff ??? so the deep v will work well with the frame???? , ........ problem is , theres just to many options nowadays . you can drive yourself insane trawling the internet for hours trying to get it right , when really i should be out riding the bloody thing. -

Stop thinking and buy those wheels.

That wheelset you posted is lovely, altho if you're going back to gears I'd choose something with a modern cassette.
I'd just ride is, and build up the gear parts until you're ready to re-build it. Period's a nice idea and everything, but I wouldn't get too hung up on it unless you're really going to get kick out of it...
... Veloce would be a cheap option, and suit the build. Altho I'd be tempted to mix and match on that frame.

I'd put front brakes on , grips, new plain black saddle and maybe change crankset for something black.

i want some old shamals.
black ones.

But... it doesn't...

I'm with the Bear on this. It looks pretty neat SS.
Veloce without all the polishing would look great too.

Is that something that happens? I did not know.
I pay a skilled mechanic.

wasn't this frame on forum a few weeks back? Was at 250 then which I thought was fair enough, did you get it for much less?

i didnt have the dollar when it was on here.i didnt really have the dollar when it was on ebay. i wasnt expecting to win the auction, i got lucky, proper lucky. i got it for an izumi chain less than the asking price on here. wich is a total bargain. i owe mr hoops a pint i reckon.thing isim self employed , its april , i told the VAT man that ive not got all of his cash , but promised to let him have i go when its finished.
