steel forks?

I prefer the aesthetic of straigh bladed forks really.
-
• #855
max forks like these?
-
• #856
MAX forks are too damn stiff...
-
• #857
I think 2014 will be all about concealed mudguard mounts as demonstrated here on Madone 2.1
I think its a pretty elegant solution on a modern road bike

I thought 2014 was all about MAX?
-
• #859
that too

MAX forks are too damn stiff...
On a pursuit built, where comfort is the least of concern.
-
• #861
Yeah but the tube profiles are the same regardless of the application Ed?
MAX road forks are going to be MAD stiff as well...
A curve might help a little, but still going to be stiff, which is what it's desgined to be.
-
• #862
I notice the stiffness of the frame more than the forks to be honest.
-
• #863

The rake on your orlowski look like zero, which is probably the main contribution.

bonor said similar, give it time, and some longer rides... country lanes were the end of my orlowski love affair.
-

Yup zero rake, rake of 45mm (?) on a road fork would make them less stiff but still probably stiffer than you want.

No doubt, I plan to ride the brooklyn or the seta for those rides because they're both comfortable.
-
• #867
There's also different variation of the MAX fork too;
-
• #868
Mine are curved, stiff and comfortable with loads of clearance; the rake is 43mm on mine
-
• #869
I thought your was straight.
-
• #870
I guess all this speculation is nothing now Amey has put in some real world experience.
I must be new here
-
• #871
Longest ride so far amey?
tyre size?
pressure?

the great huge DT of the orlowskis made them so stiff aswell

Cripe, that's one steep seat tube! what is it? 76 degree? no wonder you wanted a longer stem on it.

First day of new job today, and I have amongst the benefits the Cycle to Work Scheme (for the first time!)
Which will go straight to Talbot when the paperwork is done.
Could well do. Or I could get some different forks, or I could use Portland Design Works 'guards.
The mudguards side of things is actually more of a design challenge than the frame.
