I've drafted a response for you, you should write it in your own words.
*Dear Addison Lee,
Pics or it didn't happen.
Kind regards,
Dancing James.* -

20 Addison Lee drivers underwent on-bike cycle/driver awareness training today
The drivers learn basic bike control
They pose for a photo in front of their cabs
They begin on quiet roads to build confidenceThen on to busier roads
They ended up riding round Rotherhithe roundabout.
Some comments:
"Now i realise why cyclists ride in the middle of the lane sometimes"
"I feel so vulnerable on a bike. I'll be more patient and give them more space"
"Some cycle lanes are crap. I get why some riders don't use them and I wont hoot them" -

Good stuff David.

Great work, Dave. This (constructive engagement) is the way forward.

When did the 'Boycott Addison Lee' strapline go and was there any action from them to merit it?
I like boycotting things - Nestle, McDonalds, Gap, Nike, Sky, Coors, Israel, O2 etcetc - makes shopping so much easier when there are only 6 things in the shop you can buy.

This training was a pilot attended by drivers and the addison lee training people to assess its value for the company. I will be in touch with them next week to see whether they 'll roll this course out to more drivers. From todays feedback they all found it eye opening and beneficial.

Great work David. On another thread: Rider Safety - Car Stereotypes http://www.lfgss.com/thread87850.html#post2956483 I mentioned how cars with cycle racks on their roofs give you more room. I guess it's the same thing, if they've experienced riding in traffic, they know what to look out for etc... Perhaps it's time to make some form of riding in traffic experience part of the driving test? Maybe a 3D movie of cycling in traffic?

One of the add lee drivers suggested that all drivers should do the course before being allowed to drive. It has been suggedted to the dft that they up the cycle awareness element in driver training and the cycling stakeholdr group is meeting with the transport minister to discuss this on tuesday

Not much has changed.

Have been suggesting that for a while with the M.C. and the idea of impending it with the local driving school.
I strongly believed it'll make a huge difference in the future of motor driving.

Well done David, and the drivers. Really good to see.

Couple of em look like they are really enjoying it.
They were having fun.
Same old story. Gave up riding when they learnt to drive in their late teens and feel like a teenager again when on a bike. Another consequence of driver training in addition to drivers understanding what cyclist require better is planning to ride again. So many driver ask after these courses where to get a bike -

Would be great to hear a press release regarding this.
Need to get back in cycle training properly.

I suspect Addison Lee will issue a press release.

I just wan't my Ford Galaxy
*I just wan't my Ford Galaxy*Painful. Did you c&p that from somewhere?
That does sound like a standard reply that you would get if you had been a passenger.
It also changes from the driver *will *be summoned in to our offices to the driver *has *been reminded.
