  • No the green was a stock colour for that frame, I say go back to it.

Only go back to it if you can match the colour and sparkle exactly to the original.
Otherwise, as said before, strip it!

  • Just won some new spd-r pedals off eBay so will make a quick toe strap modification and they will go on here

  • Would have been robs birthday today so fitting that the frame was picked up today and should be with me tomorrow..can't wait to start building

  • the frame arrived and the sun was out so I thought I'd take a quick photo which didn't really work out- too bright for blackberry camera I think!

I put a seatpost in just to check what size it is and started thinking maybe black post and stem would look quite mean with this paintjob? Not this post and stem but a nicer version of this? I had thought silver bits and tan side wall tyres but I quite like the all black

    thoughts?

either way..so happy with this frame, I think I will keep the current paint job for this summer, let it get a bit chipped etc then respray the original colours and change the bits as needed then

  • I agree with you, looks fast.

  • best. frame. ever.

mine is dying, some **********bag *******face damaged one of the seatstays ;(

  • that looks wicked!

  • I'm thinking Thomson post to keep it American at least?

  • Yess, me likey

  • Yeh I saw those, they look same as original. Just need a stem or a shim and I'm rolling when I get back from holiday. Then hunt for a cheap Thomson post and a nicer stem and it might be time to think about paint
I did wonder about some sort of chain tensioner Too, been a while since i had a frame without screw adjusters

  • tensioner, why??

  • Easier to swap gears at track and get perfect tension- I don't mean like a single speed tensioner, I mean a thing to help set the wheel position quickly..can't think what you call them. I change gear maybe 4-5 times some sessions so it's nice to get chain tension bang on with no messin, on my last three frames you just twiddled the screws till the chain was right then did up the nuts

  • Chain tugs?

  • so you're going for green or classic blue?

  • Chain tugs yes.. Thanks!
Neither for now, it's staying as it is for the summer since it will only get chipped in and out of the car going to races. If I race a lot and use it well then I will treat it to a new paint job over the winter

  • Arh good, I wondered about the quality
And yeh, saving time for the paint job, won't be cheap to do it right

  • So, after a lot of looking at this bike sat in my garage/ gym and a couple of roller sessions I've decided I won't get to ride at the track much (career change, poorer than a hobo soon and no time) but I do want to keep training
To ride outside I need a brake, and I already have a 1inch ahead fork and headset which would do the job, so these are going to be fitted, along with a crosstop lever and brake to allow me to train on a couple of industrial estate roads nearby

In a couple of years I will stick the original fork back on and it's back to a track only bike
In the meantime when I do race it's just two bolts to undo and I'm off! Oh and change the front wheel back

Pics on Friday when it's fitted..hopefully

  • Out of interest, what would a set of original dale forks be worth?

  • If they are attached to a cannondale track frame then quite a lot!

  • Hah, not quite, but there is a market for forks only?

  • probs won't get much more for them compared to other steel track forks tbh, unlike the frame they don't really special about them
