I have 48 x 18 on my other bike, which I believe, if Sheldon is correct, is 70.1 GI. Which is just way too spinny for 20 miles, well it was for me anyway. I didn't feel comfortable. 48 x 16 is starting to hurt my knees a little bit with that mileage, hence 48 x 17. Like I say, will see how it goes first. I do know you're right by the way - I am just being stubborn.

Same goes for me still, been looking for a few days and no luck. Not looking forward to the round-trip cycle, but I'll do it if I have to!
Always some tickets on the night...

I just went out for a short ride partly to test a possible set up/bike choice, managed to lose a bottle cage + the bottle in it within an hour, despite it being as secure as I could make it... I guess I know which bike I'm riding now.
better it happen now then on the night and have to go all that way without fluids.
Sure there's not too many "touring" lo-pros around!
there's probably a good reason for that. have a good ride though

Hey all.
What's the latest time folks depart London Fields? I'm working until around 10 but going to catch up. I don't know the east's roads so directions out into the suburbs would be appreciated if I am to get lost! -

I couldn't find the one with the recharge kit cheaper. This one comes with batteries and a charger. Got 10pc off from the vouchers thread, £77 delivered. Plus I trust Wiggle to get it to my office by Friday.
hey sparky, do you have a link for the light you bought? i would be interested in checking your choice out. cheers

True! Although since my road bike has decided to have a seized Bottom bracket and is generally off the road for "on-going works" (!) I'm a bit out of choice right now...

There is a 10% discount code floating around for Wiggle at the moment as well. Still pricey though, but I'm going to get involved with TNRC so it should see some use.

Fitted my trusty carradice at the weekend. Also added a rear brake, freewheel, and a barbag last night so I can snaffle cakes all the way to the beach :-)

and dried meat

Hmm... dried meat you say? Don't need an excuse for dried meat but I wasn't aware jerky was good on a ride.
-

There was some really tasty homemade jerky last year

Do I sacrifice a bottle cage to carry a decent amount of whisky or do I only take a hip flask and not share?
These are the true dilema's, none of this lights, bags and food malarchy.

Thanks sparky. It looks too small to be any use! i'm obviously very wrong there tho. I'm undecided what to go for

Does the route take the main roads out of London? I will be cooking a BBQ at work in the evening then coming straight over. My bag will be loaded with all the extra burgers I'm planning on cooking. Will happily trade for beers!
Jake, you should gear down to around 70gi. 48x16 or 48x17 are both much too high for everyday riding. 48x15 and 48x16 are track gearing. Riding fixed on the road, you have to get used to spinning quite fast. Your knees will thank you for it later in life.
