so- looking back through the internet- it appears no one has made a proper film/ short film about the DD- would love to see that happen and am happy to help coordinate if I can get some people together to do it?

Might stay in Suffolk for a bit instead. The coach was hot and horrible.
Right, for the last bloody time- if the coach was so hot, WHY DID NO-ONE SAY ANYTHING?????
-
• #54
^ Yeah. Why didn't you pipe up Skully?
-
• #55
Because everyone on the forum is lazy and assumed someone else would get up and complain.

We did, but nobody could do anything about it. Heating seemed to be broken (as in stuck on HIGH) and we couldn't open the panels in the roof.
-
• #57
yeah. I remember someone trying to open them and couldn't. I was too busy feeling ill from eating energy bars for 12 hours to worry about the heat.
-
• #58
why didn't you tell the driver? he maybe could have turned the heating down???
-
• #59
The driver was told, nothing could be done. Apart from get off the coach.
It wasn't the end of the world.

I've been struggling to remember whether I did last year's DD. Sarah's tumble just after Epping, a vague recollection of riding with Anothersam near the end and seeing a barn owl, kids high fiving us in Epping, skipping the food stop, having someone ride into me and smash up my rear mudguard, chatting with itsbruce, taking an alternative route leading up to Framlingham... yep, I think I must have been there. Oh, and I've got last year's energy bars in a drawer at home.
I'll be there again this year. My boss is throwing an all day party on 30 June so I hope she doesn't mind if I turn up on the bike and eat all the food and then bugger off early.

I remember taking an alternative route... Sun was coming up. People were confused.
I also remember seeing the sign that said 71 miles instead of 7 miles (or some such number - rather disheartening...)

I remember reaching the Suffolk boarder and thinking we'd be there soon. How wrong I was.

Ah yes, AlexB's mischievous sense of humour with the milepost...
Various other things are drifting back into my memory, such as:
(a) riding with Nitto Promenade bars and discovering that they're not ideal for 113 mile rides;
(b) getting cross with someone in Framlingham who decided to tell me I was going the wrong way;
(c) having a delicious pint of Adnams outside the pub at Finchingfield and meeting the springer spaniels on the cargo bike;
(d) sitting on the grass at Dunwich and seeing Mrs Ludd and smallest Luddlet arriving in a car for a day by the seaside;
(e) wandering along the marsh and seeing avocets and little terns.
Yes, I was definitely there. Thank you for helping me piece together that part of my life.

I remember having a change of clothing at the other end... Slops and trackpants FTW! (only time i have ever thought trackpants are ok outside of the house)
And babywipes to clean up! What a godsend!

Last time I did it I had two panniers on a touring bike, a flask of coffee, cake, camera, snacks...
Sod all that. This year I'll be on the road bike with a CamelBak and that's about it.

This year I'll just take my bikepack.eu saddle bag. Plenty of food too.

It'd be nice to see a proper one done...here's one I did in 2008 that ran on ITV London.....
(apologies for the crap/cheesy v/o - I did it as soon as I got home...completely knackered!) -
