Current options for a 500+ gig SSD? There are a couple which are decently priced on Amazon right now (50ish quid). Anything I should avoid?

Realised, annoying though it is, I need a printer for very occasional document use. Boarding passes as backup for apps, CVs, file copies of e-docs.

I think that implies a b/w laser.

Is there an Arkose equivalent in that area?

I've had an HP M127FW for a few years now and have no complaints. Not sure they sell it any more but my point really was that a £150 HP does the job.

The answer is the cheapest one that comes with two free cartridges.

Years ago I worked somewhere with a backup basic printer and it ran out of ink. >£80 for a replacement cartridge!

My folks have a Canon a bit like this which is decent.

NFC works better/is more useful than the wifi function. Especially with things like boarding passes.

One thing to look out for is that HP ship toner cartridges that are reduced capacity. You normally only get about 700 pages out of the one that comes with the printer.

Normal toner cartridges for my printer print over 1,500 pages in my experience. If you buy real HP, toner cost per page works out about 3p per page. If you buy knock offs (work much better than knockoff inkjet cartridges) that drops down to 1p per page.

I see your point but that's not very sustainable! I'm pretty sure I don't want a inkjet, as the ink cartridges dry up if you don't use for a month or two in my experience.

700 pages might cover me for a couple of years. But this kind of thing just puts me off HP even more. Apparently HP own Samsung printers as well now though...

I just like mine because I know it'll work, when I've left it gathering dust for a few months. Im sure there are cheaper options.

I think my printer takes 3 sizes of cartridge, seem to remember I was able to get knock off xl size for the price of legit small size but that might have been a printer at work instead. They do gunk up a bit if I don't print for a couple of months but then it has a thing you can do to clean the printer head and that gets it all going again. It's a Canon maxify but somehow in the 3-4 years I've had it the price has gone up £40 on a new one(?).

I'm planning to upgrade my pc and looking at going with a Ryzen but really not sure whether to go 5 or 7. Looking at the 2600(X) and the 2700(X). Don't know if 7 is overkill and I should just save a bit of cash and go 5. It's for web design and development, so Adobe, vscode, docker etc. No overclocking or gaming :( I've watched a fair few videos but none the wiser, although anything will be a big upgrade to the ancient i7 I currently have.

What about gaming? You should give it a dabble again, be good to have another team member on PUBG.

Would be surprised if web dev would see any benefit from the 4 extra cores.

I can't be trusted to game on my work machine, just a quick half hour at lunch.... hmm. I use my laptop for gaming, not ideal, probably got my priorities wrong :) I need to get back on pubg, haven't played for a long while, I'm so bad at it.

Still won't run Crysis 3 at ultra settings.

Got prompted to update PIA. Deleted the old app. When I try and do a clean install of the new version it keeps saying exit the old version before proceeding. I can’t see the old version on the pc. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

It may not have exited fully so have a look in task manager for PIA and also something along the line of TAP adapter and if either are there end the task.
