  • The plan is still to stick to the original green/white scheme only with an translucent colour on the green. I've got a couple of days to think about it though as they won't start work until next week. I've had a doubt that the translucent green and the plain white might be overkill and make it too fussy

I really like the candy paint idea. I think a solid white panel will clash a bit - bar the rear triangle I'd say have as much of the green paint as possible to make it stand out and to not detract from the way it'll show up the lug work.

Personally I'd go for white pearl lettering rather than pure white to soften it.

  • Id ditch the transluscent. Will look great in solid green in the right shade. Like this with more white. Will be great!

  • I always had this colour in mind:

And I always like the colour of this Serotta. A bit darker but hits a sweet spot.

I leaning towards the original plan now rather than translucent anyway. I reckon translucent might look too busy/fussy with all the other detail going on.

  • Yeah thats nice!

Its very similar to the absinth colour on a few IFs ive seen (link below). I like it but i think its abit to in your face for a "lifetime" bike. For me that is.. If usually respond very quick if you need a ppg code for a certain colour, if thats of any help to you.

  • Or to put it another way, I liked these dropouts and I don't think they we're available with double eyelets :-)

what are those rear dropouts? they're just what i'm looking for

  • what are those rear dropouts? they're just what i'm looking for

Tom's supplier simply lists them as "953S". I'll ask him for more details when I speak to him next and PM you if I get any more info.

  • i've found them, many thanks

  • Decided to tone the paint scheme down. The colour is loud enough on it's own so decided on a less fussy scheme to avoid it turning into the XR3i of touring.

This is the green they're going to try to match:

And the new scheme. Shouldn't be too long now, just not sure when I can get to Southampton to collect it.

  • Oh yes, I saw a similar job been done to a 953 too, check it out http://www.lfgss.com/thread29-1467.html#post3362946

  • Gold and green is an. Ace colour scheme... This is my holdsworth:

  • ^^^ definitely a good shout. Really can't wait to see this finished.

  • I collect tomorrow. :0) I've seen a tease shot of a bit of the painted frame, and it is good.

  • Looking forward to seeing it

  • ^ this!

  • Tromp tromp tromp

We need to get a pic of this!

  • Not even a teaser? :)

  • Ignore the stem, just holding the the fork in place for now.

So chuffed with it. The pics don't come close to it's true beauty. I'm grinning from ear to ear:

  • It looks incredible! Getting rather Jealous

  • Thats awesome, truly a stunning bike. I love the paint. Fenders should complete the package. When is the first test ride scheduled?

Even wheels are perfect. (yours look exactly like mine did btw, like the ceramic coating is chipping at the edges. Poor quality controle on the later ceramics)

  • Lovely!

  • oh wow that's gorgeous. really classy looking.

  • I know that grinning feeling, you should be very proud, it's beautiful. Stunning lug lining and a great choice of colours.

Mine should be getting it's first outing in over a year (mum duties are being given a few hours off) ... All being well, at the Tweed Run, don't suppose you're going and might have the build ready to go?

  • Sha-WING!

  • Again, it doesn't do it justice but here it is with the post and saddle.

Yep, Mavic ceramic rims weren't great towards the end, but they still work fine. And look nice :-)

Not sure when it'll be completed. Not in a rush to take it out with all the salt and crud on the roads right now anyway. I will build it asap, but due to certain commitments it's unlikely to be for a couple of weeks until it's ready to ride. Will keep reporting back with progress. Thanks for the nice comments. It's been worth the wait.

  • That look amazing! and the geometry look great.
