I watched the Tornadoes and Lancaster peel away across Hyde Park this morning. Five minutes later, poppies were gently fluttering down and delighting people in the streets.

Quite a moving moment.

Just heard that a DH Humming Bird has crashed on landing at Old Warden. Thoughts are with the pilot.

Sad news about the tornado pilots... wonder what went wrong.

Sounds like a training exercise, ie, both crews were tutor and pupil.

So error of judgement maybe?

Most probably. Rather unforgiving margins of error.

Upon further reading, this photo isn't nearly as epic as it first seemed. Turns out he's just watching a manual, not remotelly controlling the refuling arm.
