Our new house is nearly directly under one of the two final approach flight paths for Heathrow. The planes come over at about 2,500 feet and we have a large rooflight which means i can lie on the sofa and watch them coming over. Some of them start putting their landing gear down right above us.
I have to admit that I love it. They dont make too much noise and I'm turning into a bit of a plane geek by watching them approach on flightradar24 to while away time when im on the turbo.
If there was any doubt before I am now certain that I'm a boring bastard.

They dont make too much noise
True, bloody eco-nazis have ruined it for everybody. When I were a lad, we had proper amounts of aircraft noise out in Winkfield; now I never hear them in Slough, only about half as far from the end of the runway. I miss the days when every Concorde take off was saluted by a hundred car alarms going off in Colnbrook :-)

This. The volume of bleating about aircraft noise is inversely proportional to the average noise levels of a modern jet aircraft. -

When I was a lad, these used to fly over my grandads house in Suffolk. So favourite fighters please...

The A-10 wasn't a fighter, it was designed to provide close air support for ground forces.

Never knew we sold Rolls to the Russians to make these
We had a Labour government which was sympathetic to the Communists. The Russians bought about 3 engines and then ripped off the design without ever paying any licence fees to Rolls.

Did I say Rolls was paid?
Have an electric helicopter...

I suppose it depends on your understanding of the verb 'to sell' :-)
