• There has been a lot of talk about holding lines etc. This was indeed not a pro race, and there were some people who dont race much, me included. I was glad to make it into the final, but I knew I was way off the pace of the fast guys, so I was content to stay out of trouble in the final, and give everyone a wide berth, once things started to hot up.

I did my best to hold my line, and to be fair, I was cautious on the bends for this exact reason. However, even at the highest level this happens (skip to 8.20)Giro d'Italia 2012 - Stage 3 - Final kilometers (incl. Cavendish & Phinney crash) - YouTube

In all I thought it was great fun, and the inclusive nature of the open entry allows me, a 30 something with a mild bike obsession but no racing pedigree to get on the track and mix it up with some really quick chaps from all over the world.

  • ^^ Cool vid! That music really makes the race look super fast!

  • Never mind this rubbish, were there any fights and what about the burritos?

  • what about the burritos?

They were good actually really good. In the sense i had to have seconds as well as nacho's and salsa dip which again was really tasty.

  • Superb! Shame burritos don't figure at hillingdon more often. Nothing wrong with tea and cake but you gotta move with the times eh?

  • Never mind this rubbish, were there any fights and what about the burritos?

I was disappoint about the lack of guacamole tbh....on the plus side tea and coffee and cake was like 50p a go. The cheapest thing I'll ever buy from Tokyo Fixed!

  • skiding is like pulling the brake lever as hard as you can until smoke comes from your rear tire ! would you do that with your road bike? why then doing it with your track bike? try to slow the bike done without skiding is not that hard especially with the gearing in this race and the turns the field had!

for sure if you have a tiny bit off brakeless and racing experience you would never do it! if you don't....why attend a race like that?

  • I was disappoint about the lack of guacamole tbh....

There was guaca in the veggie ones. Tasty.

  • also Lars from 31:10

  • 17:45: 'Here, you have to lean. And there can be some issues with the pedals touching the floor.'

'So what's the way of getting around this? Avoid leaning?'

  • Also polo.
